i run PO4 remover in a fluval canister filter
i run carbon 24/7
i have a asm g4 skimmer
i do 25g water changes every 2 weeks with fresh ro/di water

i checked all my levels PO4 , am, ni, na all undetecatable using salifer test kits

diamond goby (he helps)

He does not help...he eats all the good infauna from your sandbed.

I would say step up your water changes. What about the water itself...is it from your own RO/DI? Have you changed your filters..and do you know what the TDS is of the water? My guess is it's just the new tank stabilizing. Most tanks at this age go through it. Not enough flow could also be an issue.

my ro/di units are all newer ....my water change one has only been used 5 times and my water top off one is only a month old

i dont have a tds meter though

ok ill try to do water changes more

if i add anymore flow the sandw ill be dune style... its already kinda moving around

i had a brief problem with cyano, it was because of my ro/di, i treated my tank with maracyn-2 for 24 hours (i also removed my carbon and turned off my skimmer) and then did a 35% water change. I re-added my carbon and turned back on my skimmer and left the lights off for 3 days. I have no more cyano.

its totally reef safe as far as i can tell, there were no adverse affects to any of my sps and my tank looks significantly better.

well is there any natural way to get rid of it so i dont threaten my corals and fish

i really dont know what the deal is cuz i dont have any nutrients that register on my test but obviously i have some for the cayno to be there

my macro has never really taken off in my sump but i put a stronger light over it now with a 6500k spectrum so im hoping this will help it grow

any other suggestions?

thanks yeah thats what im figurin but i dont get what i should do to rid them from my tank im running phosguard in my fluval 404 which sucks from the sump and feeds my chiller then back to my sump

would it be better to get a seperate phosphate reactor and use that??

Imo it is the best way. Also you could do a shot at reducing your lights to a few hours a day for a couple of days. This has worked for me a few times while I got the PO4 down.

ok cool well im guna get a PO4 reactor then

and ill cut my lights back a few hours while using the reactor to see how that works

the cayno isnt crazy outta control but its annoying to me i dont like any nuiscance stuff in my tank at all

P04 reactor with Rowa don't help with cyno.
You need chemi-clean to kill cyno-bacteria . It works for me .

When I initially setup my tank about three months ago, I had cyano as well, mostly red and black. I still have some, but most of it has gone away, especially after siphoning off the gravel and doing water changes. Right now I have no fish in my tank and I do run Phosban.

My cyano is basically on the gravel-I have a 1/2" layer of fiji pink sand covering my tank.

Do you have the cyano on the sand or on the rocks?

hey zoom what exactly is chemi-clean? i mean i have used the chemi-clean activated carbon pouches is that what ur talkin about or is it some kind of redslime remover??

i have used the red slime remover in my 100g FO tank before and it worked great i am affraid to use anything like that in my new 180 with all the corals and such is it ok to use that stuff in a reef tank??

robitreef i have mine mainly on my sand too .... the red kind.... and some of it is on the lower rock work but not that much just a patch here and there

i have siphoned out some of it during water changes as well but it just seems to come back ....

i have no other nuiscance algae or anything like that so i just dont know hot to get this stuff out of my tank

I 2nd what zoom said. The red slime remover will not hurt anything, but it will make your skimmer go nuts. I guess you know this because you have used it before.
Jerry

ok so the red slime remover will be fine?

for some reason i thought it would kill off the beneficial bacteria as well??

yeah ill have to turn the skimmer off for a while then huh

Chemi-clean is different than Chemi-pure. Chemi-clean and Red Slime Remover are similar.
They will not harm your corals but may do a mild hit on your sandbed and rock: it is an antibacterial agent, and bacteria are what make your rock work. The bed will rapidly recolonize from deeper areas of your rock and sandbed, BUT it may impact pod production, and it is perhaps a little risky on a new tank because of the possible impact on the sandbed.

In either case, read the instructions to the end before use, and do exactly as it advises.

ok well i ordered some up and i will use accordingly....

so should this cure it altogether or will it come back again?

thanks!
