Why do some people have an anemoe in SPS tank?

I have been seeing a few sps tanks that have long tentacle anemoes. I think they look cool yet I see mature sps colonies in their tank. I thought they move around. Do you have one? Can I get one and successfully keep sps?

Yes you can have one and house it with sps, but the problem will be when it moves, stings the hell out of the sps or gets caught on a powerhead or creates shade over sps, so be careful

I have plenty of SPS in my tank and also 2 RBTAs and have been lucky. Mine are within 6 " of where the orig one went 15 mths ago and its clone about 7 mths ago. I worry about it moving one day but for now its happy where its at.

Good part is I`m in the process of setting up a cube just for the BTAs and my wife's Picassos so I can get them out of the big tank.

I've kept RBTAs in SPS tanks, for almost 4 years. Yes, once in awhile, though rarely, the RBTAs will move and I'll have to encourage it, by moving a rock or two, or removing a coral from it's path. However, I've never lost any corals, due to the moving RBTAs.

The only anemones I've kept that really don't move around are rock/flower anemones. You can keep more than one together and under good light they'll never move.

why do some people have them? cause we like them i guess.
here is a pic of my tank with a large crispa

crispa do not really move, only problem is that it expands quite a bit and can sting, i lost about 3 frags from this, but they were nothing special.

Yes, it is possible when you have enough room for it and it stick to one place. I had mine stay in same rock in 13 months until I decided to make room for SPS.

Anyone have an anemone in a smaller SPS tank? I would love to get one, and a clown, to go in my 28G LED nano. It will mainly be an SPS tank.

Thanks

Nvite, do you photoshop your aquarium background or do you razor the coralline from everywhere? Super clean! You guys with your huge anemones, its so cool!!

Yes, I scrape them off often to give nice clear back. I am not big fan of Coralline algae.

never again unless I had a large tank where I could try and isolate it on an island rock. I lost a few nice peices due to nems roaming.

Does your clown host in your crispa?

Well going for a mixed reef look is probably why most have them together.
Plus nems in an SPS tank must also ellude to an inclination to be more adventurous. ;)

I cannot stand losing SPS to preventable events, (my luck the nem would go on the move into my ORA'S & LE's).

Other's can have nems in tanks with SPS for years without trouble. Murphy sleeps not far from my reef setups so I won't risk it.

Mine works because I had to create a space specifically for my RBTA, I made a crevice in the middle of my island of rock to keep the RBTA happy and not touching my sps. I don't have huge colonies yet but small ones, so I didn't want to risk having them burnt from the anenmone. This has worked for me so far, until recently when it budded 2 buds and they have now begun growing.

I'm trying to part with them, green base rbta. hopefully they will go to good homes.

We have a blue haddoni and a large rbta in a 125g with sps.
Both men's walked to opposite corners and rock work was moved to encourage them to stay put.
The nems are a nice contrast to sps.
