I have been thinking of adding an anemone to my tank but worry about it killing expensive frags. Might wait until they grow and then try one out.
Why do some people have an anemoe in SPS tank?

My BTA has irritated my SPS but the only thing I've lost is some blastos.

DSA neo nano, 34G with 3 RBTA's. they stay put. every now and then, they split, and one of them gets confused. i sell that one, and keep the population in check.
no real issues, havent lost anything.

I think the OP asked about LTA's. I have had mine for about 15 years and it has never moved and hence never caused any SPS damage. Once these guys settle in a deep sand bed, next to a rock, they do not move. BTA's are much more likely to wander. My LTA is still one of the highlights of my tank.
Visitors at my home never go crazy about my acros or montis, just the anem and clown interaction. That is why some of us have LTA's in with our SPS's. It is a very interesting animal.

Guess that, for some of those who have one, it is a must for them to do so. i always add an anemone and a pair of clownfish as the centerpiece of my tank

I've had the same BTA in my last two tanks for years. He is still fixed to the very first rock he liked over 5 years ago. Since then, he's barely even grown that much. An SPS tank can seem rather stagnant with no movement sometimes. For me at least, it's a nice addition that still captures my attention with the hypnotic swaying in the currents.

I had an LTA in my tank (now I have several..soon I will go back to 1 or 2 once they all colour up fully and I decided which ones I want to keep.)
It's been a HASSLE. However it's rewarding to have something like a nem in an otherwise macro static sps tank. It adds much needed movement imop. It will go months without moving then you accidentally bump it, and it freaks out and wanders. However I've been very dilligent with trying different ways to keep putting it back where I want it, and it's managed to work (fingers crossed). Although now my tank looks like mario brothers. I finally got the anenome to stay where I wanted it by half burying a large piece of a pvc and placing it in that. The biggest problem with my sps tank & the LTA is to much flow I noticed it kept trying to move into protected areas. So I also moved my rock work around a little bit to see if I couldn't direct the flow away from it slightly.
The one thing I don't like about the LTA's is I can't keep any BTAs or Maximinis in the tank with it, they just don't do well, even with carbon.
Here it is before when I tried to "integrate it" with the tank. Now all the LPS are removed and the anenome is placed in the front right corner as far as away from the mp40 as I can have it.

I doubt id ever put a nem into an sps tank again, too big and too much trouble when they walk.
Id rather have some nice lps like a large cat which imho is far nicer than any nem and clowns often host in cats.

if it were to split id imagine this causing major problems but if theirs ample room with coral placement really high up/ far away id imagine theirs a chance but i personally wouldnt want to risk of the rtba taking over an sps but i will admit when i see something like a rbta in a sps tank it seems to be the center piece

Well after saying the above I spotted a very rare purple haddoni for sale. I've never even seen a purple haddoni before let alone seen one for sale. So I buckled and bought it along with a pair of porcelain crabs which host in it.
If the haddoni does move it should stay on the sand, although I'm hoping it will remain in one spot.
Dam it I've such bad will power :spin2:
