Why so much algae on glass???

Never had a problem with algae until just recently. I have a brown hazy algae growing on my glass. I have to clean it almost every other day. My tank has been running for a few years and I never had to clean the glass this much. Can someone please tell me what would cause this and how do I fix it? Thanks

you running filter socks? I got that when I left a sock in too long. Id like to know what causes this too

its nutrients in your water. whats your phosphate level. i run bio pellets and i get it too. it may be a nutient build up in your tank. its not a bad thing.

Have not measured the phosphates but I run the high capacity GFO in my reactor.

Nitrates- 0
Cal- 420
pH- 7.2
Ammonia- 0
Temp- 77
Sal- 1.024

Some softies, very few SPS, 6 small fish, 20-30 crabs, 40-50 snails. Not a lot of inhabitants in my tank just yet. 220 gal tank, 250 lbs LR.

temp has lowered recently due to some changes made to the tank but i am slowly bringing that back up to around 79.

I get it too, I run filtersocks, but change them out once the water level rises toward the top, usually once per week.

I get that every so often as well, but i've been adding a bunch of stuff recently, so expecting it to go away shortly. The first few weeks when we were more conservative in adding stuff that didn't happen.

i have always had this and could never get rid of it.
nice bulbs, different types of lights, gfo, 2 part, massive water changes, take out sand bed, etc, etc.
this is the reason why i am getting out, too darn frustrating.

That's on spot for a reef. And it's an established tank at 2 years ... hm. Hows your RODI? Tested TDS coming out of that?

I've also heard anecdotes about how the BRS ferric oxide isn't working properly or not doing a good job, but I haven't the personal experience with that. Maybe a bad batch? Try getting and running some rowa?
