Worm's 180 build

So a few people have messaged/called me and told me to get off my butt and get back into things and make a video again.

I made this video looking at a few things. I was looking for a problem and I found out what it was. Needless to say a few Harlequin shrimp are going to be ordered.

Hope you like this video. I am making another one right now.

Ohh it is probably better if you click on fullscreen and set it to show it in high def. It is a 1080i video.

Thanks guys/gals/people/fish!

I am looking forward to the new build and keeping up with this big mug too!

Here is another one.

I might do a daybreak video in the AM.

I am not trying to flood you with video's, just trying to get back in the groove.

That leather has definitely self fragged. There is another piece just below the camera angle.

I set them up for a frame every 2 seconds. (That is my normal TimeLapse setup) That relates to a second for every minute.

a 2:30 timelapse would be 2 hours and 30 minutes.

love the videos, realized i had amazon points and just bought Time Lapse Pro, making a video as we speak..pretty cool stuff!

Thanks. I actually like making video's. My camcorder (digital) has a timelapse for 1 a sec 2 5 10 20 and 60 second groups.

I have used it before for other videos where I can condense an entire day down to minutes.

I have a a few gopro's also, but I have not used them for time lapse yet.

Here is my Vortech programming.

We talk about making sure we keep a running log on test results. This lets us see different imbalances throughout a certain range.

Well one that I like to use all the time is my PH.

In looking at:

ph180.png

You can see that the (left hand side) PH has been doing pretty good.

Then if you look at the right, you can see that it has being slowly going down over the past 30 days.

I use the ApexFusion program but even that only covers a week in graphing.

Little changes like that is not as visible in a week snapshot compared to 30 days.

As a result I have decided to modify my doser programming to:

Fallback OFF
OSC 000:00/000:55/029:05 Then ON
If Outlet ReturnPump1 = OFF Then OFF
If pH > 8.40 Then OFF

Basically I added 10 seconds of alk dispersal on my 1.1 doser for each cycle.

In the programming above it is set to run for 55 seconds then pause for 29m and 5 seconds. That means every 30 minutes on the :00 and :30 the pump will run. That helps me visually see that it is still running when I am at the tank feeding or just watching.

I use reeftronics.net to monitor, save, and graph my data. I am listed under worm5406.

I added some Harquelin Shrimp tonight.

Lets see if they tackle the asternias. Now I will have to get some Chocolate Chips for it.

i would hold of on that. It took a couple months or more before I started seeing my shrimp hanging out in the front. That's when I started getting the chocolates. But that depends on your collection of stars.

Oh yeah... I will wait on the chocolate.. Otherwise my kids might think it is real chocolate and why am I storing it in the fridge. LOL

Hummm

I just might still do that.

lol!

Curious on the shrimp and how quickly they go after the stars. I have a few propagating in my 180 and know I may have to deal with them some day.

lol. Wrap em in foil , that will realy get em.

Nice addition on the harlequins, did you get a sexed pair? I never know with shrimp do they change sex or stay the same.

I got a pair and the kids in our family nicknamed them the cockneys. If you want to know why Google the cockney walk, (mickey Flanagan does a good impression) and tell me they don't walk the same way when on the food hunt.

Unless you have a huge population and I mean huge I would not have brought more than one harlequin shrimp for your tank. I had on in my 90 and it literally ate all the astera starfish in a matter of weeks. After that feeding it chocolate chip starfish is expensive and inhumane. so I gave mine away. Most of the ones in our tanks do not not eat SPS and if they did you would know very fast as they would wipe out your colonies very fast. They are vicarious feeders and consume large amounts of food for their size.

The ones I got were about 1/4-1/2 inch long. Yeah real babies.

I have a friend in VA that I might be able to give them to.

I think he is moving soon though.

Did a little work today.

Water change and swapped out GFO.

Here is a video of the GFO after it was replaced:
