Threads like this burn me up to no end. Having alot of inside information I can tell you guys that some of these posts contain mis-information. That's all I'm going to say. There are pluses and minuses to both, but get the facts before you trash a company.
Easy to be upset about something you take for granted.
untrue Comcast's franchise agreement with most citys require itInternet Cable Phone has no 911
Also untrue, Comcast has a battery backup on alll NIU's and EMTA's that provides 8-10 hours of standby time and like 3hrs talk time. They also don't provide their own battery
Then the city blew that oneuntrue Comcast's franchise agreement with most citys require it??

At least, not in the manner described.
I want to also point out that SBC/at&t have not "jacked" anyone rates up. You sign a 1 year contract for that service at that price. After that year you will be billed accordingly. That is the cost of month to month service. If you sign for a year your service is discounted. Just like with your cell phone.
CDV has 911, it's referenced to the Mac address, If for what ever reason your head end is not set up to support it the only was to get that changed is to start bugging the city to get on them.at this time no Internet Cable Phone will call the correct 911 service. it is not setup to do this
With CDV yes the modem has to be online, but I belive there is a back up battery built into the emta , I'll check tomorrow just to be shureThey can't supply their own battery. Doesn't it require that your cable modem is functioning?
