WRC 2012 frag swap

We are still working on the vendor for the frags and the last time Tom and I spoke we were shooting for the first part of February, probably on a Sunday when our hosts at Jofish are closed so the takeover by the club won't bother anybody;). We'll update when we know more. Thx Grant.

Rather than all sticks we are trying to get more of a mix of acros, lps, acans, etc this time so stay tuned for more info.

Guessing either the 10th or 24th, the 17th is MLK weekend. Also would love to see some more acans and chalices. Last meet Jofish had a huge selection of really nice acans (grabbed 3 while I was there.) Last meet definitely had a very nice and diverse selection of frags :D

Won't be able to make it. Both kids are in the middle of the competition season.

I should rename my login to ghostfish.

The club just placed a big order of corals and should have them here this week. things are heating up so start making room in your tank for new colorful corals.

The corals that we ordered are some of the very nice/rare corals so you should get very excited right about NOW :D

Thanks you Grant for all of your hard work in the background to help make this happen.

I will announce the date and time very soon. We are thinking the first part of February on a Sunday. This is going to be almost a full day event with food, raffles, swap.

If any of the vendor/sponsor would like to donate for our raffle, please send me a PM. Thanks

You should try to get Mike C. From ledTRIC out in Florida to become a donating sponsor, I would love to win one of their inspire LED fixtures :d

Would some people be interested in doing a group buy of mangroves and divy them up at the swap meet?

It looks like they can be found online for about $1 each.

Question... If my frag have aiptasia, will that be ok to bring if I label them as "quarantine b/c of aiptasia"?

My berghias didn't quite make it through the new year. Salinity crept too high in my garage.

Reason: cold garage plus a warm body of water (even if mostly covered) will evaporate a lot of water. I forgot this detail from physics. Higher temperature difference, more likely to evaporate faster.

That is also why even in my house, my tank is "eating" more water because at night my heater turns off downstairs & air temp is 65degF and the tank is still a nice 78.5 degF...

Again, another reason for my RODI water warmer I posted earlier this week. I need more topoff water. ;)

You still have time Ron to get some aptasia x and clean them up. Did you also lose the bergias you got in the group buy?

Colin, you will just have to wait and see ;) the order is coming in from LA. In the next few days.

Man, if I'd known, I would have helped bring up the package on New years. Since technically I ended up dropping off the tank to Jofish the next day anyways. :)

Grant: yes, I will try to hit it with kalk syringe shots. Just that often they are hiding between zoa polyps so I would not get all of it anyways...just the largely visible ones.

Yes, my berghias (round 2) didn't make it due to salinity problems due to evaporation issues. I do have a tank of 6-10 egg clutches from the berghias. Hopefully some of will develop into juvenile berghias.

They were cutting a bunch up last week. I think they've been doing a really good job stocking up. Seems to me that the selection is much greater than a year ago.

And if that isn't enough, Jofish will have a wide selection of corals for you to purchase. Members will get the usual 15% off

Does this mean my younger brother can't bring his toxic brown palys? Guess ill have to frag my small mindblowers colony and more of my pink and golds to share with him.

I'll be there. Grant did a great job rounding up some very nice items for the raffle, and quite a variety of items as well. And Jofish has definitely stepped up their game with their selection of corals and fish. Should be awesome.

Hey all, Thanks again to Justin and Danny at Jofish and of course Sean for letting them help us on the price for our order for the swap. After fragging we should have around 50 pieces just from their order. A lot of you will also be happy to hear I controlled myself this time, only 4 or so of the frags are acros so we have quite a lot of variety. Rest assured I will be filling out the load with a good fragging session of my stuff (acros) so it should be a lot of fun. Look forward to seeing you all on the 3rd. :)
