WTMRAC Club Business

Mako Shark II

Fish are Friends not Food
Folks -
Clearly, there is a need to meet and discuss current Club business. The good news is that soccer season is winding down and I can begin to re-engage. (This is my first posting in Weeks here on RC, because I've been in the middle of a three-way merger for PNCL Airline subsidiaries, but to say that my time has been 'consumed' would be a gross understatement.)

Problem is, both Bill Hampton ("Former"?) President and I have been more busy than most people will appreciate.

Here's what's needed:

VENUE's - Places to Host the Monthly Meetings, and

PEOPLE - New Members looking to get more involved than they currently are.

IDEAs - we're open minded

ENTHUSIASM - will trump all. Please bring your excitement to the group.

We NEED your help folks. Your Turn. Please reply.

Marty

Marty: It sounds like this group has as many or more members outside of Memphis and most people seem to have a lot going on, so I wonder if a monthly meeting is viable. If not, maybe a quarterly or bi-annual meeting would be a better start and less required resources. It seems many like the idea of swapping/selling corals/fish so maybe those could be the focal points of the meetings if that is a key interest. Or maybe not, it seems the recent mini frag swap ended up happening on-line....lol

I started a new job at the beginning of the year and I will be traveling quite a bit this year (I am in Idaho as we speak) and I am active in weekend sports teams so I probably would be more interested/available in a quarterly gathering.

I think the prior meetings were on a Saturday night or something like that, but I would prefer a day meeting.

That is my 2 cents worth (with some change left over) to help spark some discussion...

First ..whew Bill and Marty ...I feel ya' ..I wish I was close enough to get back involved to lighten your load and keep the group moving...anybody want to drive 140 miles south for a meeing then I am game to host !!!
I can't get weekends off unless someone dies or I get married ..oh yeah , I am getting married in 2 weeks to a brave soul from Missouri , in fact he is my turkey hunting guide that I used to go hunt with ...I transplanted him and his dog to the cabin in Mississippi and we will be married on Saturday the 4th of June...that is what is happening in my world ..that and the usual crap!!!
There seems to be some potential new members out there that could resurrect the group if someone would offer a venue for a meeting. I sure do miss the meetings we used to have ...lots of laughs, info and corals being passed around. By the way new members just FYI ..the Ford place in Olive Branch will let you use thier conference room for a meeting free of charge , all you have to do is ask ..we had a few meetings there in the past.
good Luck to Bill and Marty on getting some relief from the stresses related to work ...Miss you guys more than you know...:love1:

BJ, good luck on the upcoming nuptials!! Are you going to introduce him to turkey hunting Mississippi style? I have really missed the meetings too. Luck for me we have a local club here in Jackson too.

I am open to pretty much anything. My office is normally available after 5 or so in the afternoons during the week, and all day on weekends.

I agree that a monthly meeting is probably a bit much unless there was a large surge in membership, but to be fair there isnt much draw to join a club that doesnt meet. It could be a lot of fun to get together occasionally and I would love to become a "real" member in that case.

Great feedback y'all. Keep it coming.

I like the Quarterly Notion. Bigger meetings; spread out farther apart.
