Your Favorite Tang/Surgeonfish

I'm not sure which I like better, my Sohal or my Clown Tang.

Which one do you guys like better?

My powder blue is nice as well I think.

I think the sohal is my favorite right now although at 10"+ it does pack plenty of attitude with the beauty.

Wow this thread is still alive.
Maya_nl; amazing fish were did you get one, I know they are $$$.
npaden; how do the sohal and the clown get along? I know they are very agressive.

They don't! The sohal is about 10" and the clown is about 6" and the clown won't be a good boy like the other tangs and run and hide when the sohal is in a mood. They seem to be tolerating each other finally though. I've had the sohal for about 2 years and the clown for about 4 months now. After I added the clown I spent 3 days trying to catch either the sohal or the clown to stop the war going on after introduction but never could catch either one and after the first week they have called a truce at least sometimes. I have an 1,100 gallon refugium that I was going to put whichever one I could catch in but they seem to be doing okay now. I got the clown from a local who had it for over a year and it was very fat and happy or I'm sure it wouldn't have made it in my tank with the sohal harrassing it at the start.

The sohal is the boss of the tank but generally isn't outright horrible toward the other fish. Having a 10' long 415 gallon tank with limited live rock for lots of open swimming space and heavy feeding probably helps this a lot.

i like the clown. beautiful fish.
I like:
1: A. leusternon
2: clown-tang, he's also a real beauty
3: A. sohal, I got one years ago and I guess he's family of a pitbull. a real agressive fish, if you ask me.

and yes, I know, they're not all the same.... ;)

but the one I really love are the achilles, leusternon, japonicus en gemmatum.

i keep an achilles, got lucky and found one at an lfs that was eating and looked extremly well, and for the last month has been thriving in my tank, but i am a bit worried right now as it has a couple of spots......so i just keep feeding it selcon and zoe soaked nori as well as the occasional mysis and cyclopeeze

Here is my favorit tang in my tank.

what's the different between a Hawaiin yellow tang and a Pacific ?!

Honestly, I'm not quite sure, but can't be much. Mine has the nice orange coloration on his fins - not sure if that's the diffence? Mine was called that when I got him and I'd heard the term used before, so assumed it was correct. Incidentally, mine is pretty big at about 6" in length.

Love the other photos! Thanks for the compliments! Lots of great Tangs out there!

My pyroferus while he was in the q-tank. He's been in my display for a while, so I need to get an updated pic:

there a difference in there color, markings and location.the hawiian tang is yellow and pacific is brown/tan with stripes of yellow and white. the hawiian is from hawaii and pacific sailfin (indo-pacific)actually there two species one from the red sea(red sea sailfin) .

I assumed Maya_nl was asking the difference between a Hawiian Yellow Tang and a "normal" Yellow Tang from the Pacific.
