100 gallon build

no prob, gws76 has the gurgle busters and I have the durso's lmk if you want to take a look the hardest part is drilling the right size hole at the top. buy extra caps! lol
 
In my case, you could come out and take a look. But, you cannot see the gurgle buster due to the overflow being in the back center of the tank. That's the one thing I would change about my tank if I had it to do over again. If I did, I would have put the overflow in the corner of the tank. That way I could see what is going on in my overflow if a fish jumped in there or if there were an obstruction (algae growing in there, fish caught in it).
 
Gurgle busters are the quiest, IMO and easiest to use. Leave the cap free at the top for maint. and you will never be sorry you built it.

If you have any flow issues, run a piece of airline tubing down the hole in the cap and it will speed up and quiet down.
 
It has been a few days since I have updated on the progress of this build. It is going pretty slow because we want to do plenty of research as we go and try to do the best that we can at this with the least amount of money. Over this past weekend we did however get the rock into water and started the seeding process. Here are a few pics.

This is becoming a fun build. I might have to try building my own acrylic tank on a smaller scale.
 
Point thay baby toward the west and fire her up......I'll call ya when the light makes it to Binger........!!!!!! It is a nice looking light.....I know you are excited but tell Ricky to put his clothes back on...you can't get a suntan from it..........

Nice fixture for sure! What combo of bulbs did you end up ordering? 8 bulbs give you a ton of options. I hopefully will get my leds up this weekend I plan on taking a pic before and after. I can't wait to see yours up and running!

WOW was that a scare....when you plugged in those lights tonight...I thought the cops were raiding my place for illegal drugs....so I walked out the back door in my PJs with my hands up....I was sure glad to see it was just you and Rick messing with new toys...how is your rock curing going???? I think you are smart for going ahead and getting it going.....most of us...including me...don't look far ahead enough like that. You won't have near as long a wait now. I once heard Paul say that you don't let a new tank cycle...you cycle all the contents of the tank...and you are ahead of the game on that deal.........GOOD for YOU...........Holler.........
 
Mike you are crazy! LOL Rock curing is going good. We keep looking at the rock like we are waiting for it to do something. Just a couple of fools waiting for rock to get up and dance lol. I hope it makes the set up go faster for us because you all remember that I was not the most patient person during the cycle of my nano lol
 
lol I watched my rock last year when I cured the lr for my 150! your not alone! sounds like its going well, cant wait. Mike has been upducted by aleins so bright lights get him all freaked out some times. lol

Ok so the sand and refractometer should be here tomorrow. Woohoo! Now to just get the lumber and get the stand built so that all this stuff is not sitting everywhere in the house. We are making progress it is just going slooooooooooow.
