1200 Gallon One Of A Kind Reef Project

Looks amazing. Is that canopy just resting on the tank? Will the glass support all that weight?

I was thinking the same thing.

I really appreciate your guys support and questions as it helps me cover as much for those who might be looking for an answer. Thanks..
The idea of this was a dream first of a bigger tank in wall someday and since I have setup few aquariums in town in wall I always thought they will look nice in a stone wall. This is not the end of stone wall aquariums and now I'm thinking about another aquarium that is in wall to make it all stone. I had hard time finding somebody to do the work and did not want anybody who has not done it to do that. I talked to Todd who owns a construction and who helped REEFNEST team in their educational programs and framed one of the school's aquarium in the wall using scraps from bed headboard to frame a 120 gallon aquarium. Todd said that he has done alot of stone work but his schedule is tight but he will do it. I talked to another friend who is also my neighbour who is a manager of a good construction supplier about his advice on that. He asked me to come to his office and showed me all kinds of stones and he had some walls of samples. I picked the one you see here (will find the brand tomorrow). He gave me everything we need for the project. It was pricy but after looking at it finish I think it was worth it.

Two sides of the aquarium has stone work.. The other side is going to be a cabintry where three big doors swing open to access it. Rockwork is heavy and is not sitting on the aquarium. There is a gap of 1.4" between it and the tank. The two pieces of wood in the corners hold the weight. Todd is a reef tank keeper also and he suggested that. First I thought I will bring cables from the ceiling to hold it but Todd suggested not to play with it and put some nice wood to cover corner cilicon and hold the hood. There will be a nice cabintry this week to finish other side.
Will try to take as much pictures as we can.

The magnet we have for this tank is the biggest one mag float has and I'm putting this type of razor on it and it will be one size bigger razor.

It will be filled with waste water from RO first and then after a week fill it with RO. The RO systems we have, it should fill this in less than 24 hours. We are talking about a system that its carbon for example is 4' high and holds 5 gallons of carbon so imagine the rest of filtration.

I have been following this thread from the beginning and I can't stand it anymore, I have to post. This tank looks awesome, I can't wait to see what it looks like finished. Post some pics as soon as you there is more progess made. Keep up the good work!

It looks nicer in person. Flash kinda took some shadows away. Will post more pictures later on so guys be ready for more :D

That is simply outstanding! And when you've skinned those wood posts it will look like they are part of the whole thing. Are you going to skin the wood with smaller, thinner pieces of stone too?

Amazing! I love it! You are doing a great job keep up the good work and pictures. I can't wait to hear what equipment you choose to run the tank. :)

As a matter of fact I was talking to Yesterday if he could cover the corner wood with some smaller stone and he said that they don't make them smaller and if we buy corners like we used in the bottom or top then we will have to break them to fit and white parts will show. The wood that he is using there should make it look good too. We are running out of time or I could've special order that (will see how long and might do it). More pictures coming today and have to go and get some lumber for it now.

Looks like You've been making good progress I'll have to stop by one of these days...Stone corners will look great!!

This is one of the most amazing setups that is being made. The cultured rock makes it look so cool. I check this thread everyday for updates keep up the good work.
