glass / acrylic

glass / acrylic

I'm sorry but I can't seem to find this information, what is the tank made of? Is it acrylic or glass. To me it looks like glass. I have few questions:
How thick is the glass on sides?
and thick on the bottom?
And does it have any supporting bars in the corners to create more glueing area?

and by the way, the tank looks realy great.

Hey,

The tank is 3/4" glass all around with bottom, euro, and cross bracing.

thanks,

AO

AO, the tank looks awesome in these pics! You guys did a great job!

what kind of adhesive did they use for that aquarium? im inthe process of getting my starfire glass ordered and would like to have that adhesive instead of the clear silcone. needless to say my aquarium will be about 4 times smaller than that one. lol awesome tank. whats your plan for a skimmer? and will this tank be hooked to any other tank in the system? reef or fish only? keep up the great pics.

You shoulda told me MO, I would have come down to fill in that space and help out a bit with the work.

thanks,

Rick

I will get back to everybody about questions and untill then I will try to figure out how to connect my laptop to the net. That's where I have pictures and since trying to work a network on the computer I can't get connected with that laptop. I will redo my laptop tonight or tomorrow and will update everybody. I gotta go and work on the tank for the next few hours

"I have not decided which pumps I will be using and will know for sure by Monday"

I think 2 or 3 Mj1200's should be enough flow.

Sarcasm aside, looks great.

Pumps not decided yet and waiting for what pumps I have in the storag first. I will take some pictures tomorrow and worked today for about 10 hours on the stand.
Thank you guys for your reply and any suggestions are welcome. I will look into MJ1200 today..

That has to be the most overdone stand I have ever seen to date, but I love it. One thing that in my book can't be overdone. Love the painting/sealing of it. That foam will not compress not even a single mm. I have a sheet of the 1/2" thick one with my 750g glass tank over it. After filling it up, the foam looked exactly the same. You could not tell it was full.

I am loving this project and look forward to seeing it complete. What did you guys ahve in mind for skimmer, lighting, etc?

dga: The tank is overkill but I feel really good that is that way. It was about $200 different and if we are spending that much money on it then what is $200 and I can sleep well and don't loose an arm if it was not too strong. The guy who built it did a great job and it looks nice and I'm sure it can handle three times bigger than this aquarium. The light on that tank will be as follow so far
3X 1000W 14k Hamilton
6 or 8 Super Actinic 72" VHO
and if I need to add more I will do that in the future but I think it will be enough. The light will be put on so it can be pushed out of the way to get into the tank and will update with pictures.
The skimmer it will be something I build and I had good success with them and they are made inside a 75 gallon aquarium. There will be a 300 gallon sump, fuge (either 125 or 75, not decided yet )
Bax : sorry Keg is already empty and we took care of it . We were happy the day we got the tank and set it on top of the stand.

hrm wow, 3/4" glass, never would have thought that would have been enough. I'm guessing the secret's in the cross bracing?
Mo i'll have to make you a lil care package when this beast is up & runnin :-)

I am going to be in PA next week and want to stop by and take a peek. Is that ok and if so what is the address.
Thanks
