130 X 36 x 36 inbound...any suggestions?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but could you detail your quarantine procedure? Thanks, --Lars

Hey Lars,

No problem...I use a 250 and a 125 for qt...I run thru several rounds of prazi and depending on the fish cupramine...I try to avoid using cupramine on sensitive fish and dwarf angels- if I feel I must utilize it I ramp up the dosage very slowly, usually over an 8-10 day period...I keep most fish in for 6-8 weeks min...if I do not treat with cupramine I will keep the fish in longer just for observational purposes, usually around 10 weeks min.. both tanks are bb and contain no lr only pieces of pvc...sa is around .020-.021, temp around 72ish- they are both room temp- no hetaers...I never use any water conditioners and espcially avoid Prime in these tanks...never, ever utilize Prime or any other ammonia binding agent as this becomes very toxic to marine fishes. Some may feel my qt protocol is overkill and that is cool...I will always err on the side of caution and do not want anything harmful to enter my dt...
Please let me know if you have any further question...

So glad you grabbed it! It will surely be an awesome addition to your collection!

excellent eyes btw...are we friends in there? if not, send me a message...tomorrow the bulkheads get replumbed in the big tank so that means draining it...that is a great opportunity to remove some fish...the 12 inch Sohal, both 10 inch Queens, 9 inch Emp, 10 inch Hawaiian black trig, 10 inch Indian black trig, 4 inch Giant hawk fish, 6, in Garibaldi, 6 inch Huma...and possibly a few more are coming out to make room for the Clarions, Interrupta, Outrigger trig and eventually the Bandit- providing she does okay thru shipping, acclimation, and qt...will take some pics of the process and of the kids that are leaving...gonna be kinda sad to see them go...have had them on ave for 4 years but I like getting babies and raising them and them passing them on...will use the underwater lens housing an hopefully get some nice shots...
I also picked-up the African Flameback bonded pair from dd the other night...will move them into the fuge that currently has the baby Interrupta in it...I look forward to getting some nice shots of her...

Hi TK,

Thanks for the response; I'm wondering what exactly your procedure for using cupramine is. It seems daunting to me, the exact dosages required, and the test kits seemed like it would be difficult to measure exactly. Do you re-apply after testing, or use some other method of keeping track.

With the prazi, do you just re-apply the meds, or do you run carbon/water change in between.

How is your filtration on the QT tanks? Perhaps not so much of an issue with the large water volume.

thanks, --Lars

Hey Lars,

Overall, Cupramine is incredibly safe to use. Just make sure at a min you follow their instructions to spread the dose out. I do check it with a test kit. For those fish that don't react well with it- I really take my time to ramp up the dosage. I keep a diary for all tanks.
With the Prazi- I follow their directions. After the first round I do a wc but do not always run carbon and redose. I tend to dose the Prazi 3 times.
I tend to does the Prazi first a couple of rounds and then the Cupramine. I do not use them concurrently.
For filtration- the 250 has a 75 gallon sump/fuge and 2 Eheim Pro 3 1200XL canisters....the 125 does not have a sump/fuge but also has 2 Eheim Pro 3 1200XL canisters.

here is the 3 inch Bandit, she is in the 250 qt and is doing great at the end of the first week...she was about to eat that mysis next to her but the flash bothered her...
she is a great fish- very curious, even more so than many of my other angels...

Congrats on the new fish humaguy. I too am in search of a "skunk" bandit. There were so many in Japan but finding one in the US is very difficult.

How are your Clarions and the Interrupta doing?
