Great fish..The bandits are so unique looking

Thanks...they are beautiful fish and so curious...they are always checking me out and are right next to my hands whenever they are in the tank...more curious and happy to interact with me than my other angels...in the wild they seek out divers and enjoy interacting...they are amazing..

Quick question for you. It's obvious that you are having some success keeping all of these little angels, and i'm wondering what you are feeding. I grew up knowing that regals were always difficult because they needed sponge in their diet. Not true? I know there are angel and butterfly foods out there that claim to have that in them, but I didn't know if you were using it.

Great looking fish .Nice updates. Best fish selection I have ever seen .All you need now is a Wrought Iron butterfly ,Clipperton and Peppermint Angel .

Hey Huma, you only have 2 QTs that you use, but you are constantly adding fish into them it seems. Everytime you add a fish, does it not reset the QT time?

Hey bud, will call later...don't want a wrought iron...would take a Pep if the price came down, a lot...

It does reset the clock...the smaller tank has the flameback pair, venustus and the jocs...that clock is reset as of today when i drop in the 4th joc...though depending on the health of the new joc, and i don't foresee any issues, I may not qt for my standard 8-10 weeks....

the 250 has the bandits, gf, regal and interrupta...that clock was reset after the last fish was added almost a month ago...and they are all doing great...

I think you need more QTs so that you can get fish into your DT quicker, you have the greatest assortment of fish but they are just sitting in your QTs for ever. I am very much looking forward to seeing your DT once everything is in.

You mentioned that your 250 has your interrupta, does that mean your other interrupta is in the DT already? If so, how do you pair them off once one already has free reign over your DT

The qt are plenty big for these fish long term and permenantly...the bandits are 3 inches, gf 1 inch, regal 1 inch, interrupta under 2 inches...5 fish, that small, in a 250 is a cakewalk..
I believe in a solid 8-10 week qt protocol but have no problem resetting the clock, need be...
the 2nd bandit is in one of the big tank fuges...they will both go into the dt at the same time...

I also always intended on adding these new fish together- so patience is truly a virtue...
I have always believed in a slow and steady qt regimen...and when dealing with fish this costly, I am even more cautious...

As babies they seem to take to most any foods, they love pe mysis, spirulina brine, bits of silversides, fresh shrimp, clam, and scallops, live blackworms every now and then, nori is hit of miss depending on the fish...I do feed the mega marine angel mix but they seem fine without it...I do not feed them any dry food...

lol, haha, yeah, not gonna happen...

the qt are big tanks, almost 500 gallons total between the 2 and they are in a room I use often, so, to me, they are perfect just as they are...

my goal is not to get them thru qt quicker but rather to make sure they are as healthy as possible and will not contaminate my dt and other fish...

8-10 weeks is my standard qt duration...a little longer will not hurt them in any way, if anything, a bit longer gives me further confidence that my dt and all livestock will continue to be as healthy as possible...

I didnt mean to get more QTs for the size, obviously yours are huge, I was talking about so you dont have to keep resetting QT times. I have never had such beautiful fish and when I do finally get some of those, I would not want to keep them in QT any longer then needed, after 10 weeks into the DT they would go. I do understand how important the QT is for the new fish, I just wouldnt want to keep resetting their time everytime I got a new fish.

I'm the same way.... no hurry with QT. I kept 4 butterflies in QT for 6 months before, just so I could spend the time getting the DT ready.

yup, slow and steady...

a great point about getting the dt ready...I am adding around 50 pounds of rock and have yet to start piecing them together...so much more to the process than moving a fish from tank a to tank b....

That's alot of Cupramine in a 250 Qt.. What levels do you keep it at with all these little angels of yours?

lol, well the dosage is the same in any tank, I just need more liquid...a bottle treats 500 gallons....I always keep a couple around...

Cupramine scares me when it comes to centropyge angels...so I top out at around 0.4 and not their recommended level of 0.5 mg/L...

I take my time to get there...and do not follow their recommended 4 days...

They recommend...20 drops first day, wait 48 hours, then repeat...

I do 8-10 drops first day, wait 36 hours, then 8-10 drops, wait 36 hours, then last 8-10 drops ...

works for me...
