225g Display 500g+ build thread

This is in response to your questions about building an insulated sump. I had helped build a sump for the 500gal coldwater marine setup a few years ago that held the water at about 34°F (yes your arm would turn purple in a few minutes). We had it built from marine plywood and then it was coated with a few layers of fiberglass, the same stuff they make boats out of. Then, we silconed some foam insulation (3/4" maybe) to the outside of it and made a cover for the sump. It held its temp pretty well. I know its more work and expense, but it did a good job with insulating the water.

You said Those zoa's were sloppy seconds!!
When ever you want the leather, its not like its shrinking!
Just bring some nippers over.

Well It was a long weekend, and not in the 4 day sense, but we are Up and Running, with very few snags. Follow the link to see a time lapse video of the progress, I'll post some still photos hopefully later on tonight of progress, and of the "cabnit" work on the stand.

Before the link.. Special thanks to..

Dave, Jess (Treylene), Charles (ChinMonster), and Lance (torquester), for all all you help this weekend!

Now I do have one problem, as you can see if you watch the video there is a glimpse of a tank back in the equipment room, I'm having issues with the water not flowing back to the sump properly, the water level is higher then the sump, but for some reason it will return fine for a while, then the water just stops draing and the tank will start rise to high in water level. I'm thinking I might have to raise the tank another foot or two, or if anybody has any suggestions? (i'm running 3/4" to the tank, 1" back to the sump)

Thanks

Thanks.

We use the lids to so we don't stir up the sand when we were filling it w/the salt water. Made it a little clearer since we had to move the livestock and rocks in right away.
