240g tank w/fish room build

Ok dropped 2 large raw shrimp in the 240 curing all the rock. Also added 1 shrimp in the rock area of the fuge. Added a 400w heater Turing on to 86 deg. That should help spread the bacteria faster in the warmer water.

smart thinking on the heater and bacteria, feel free to come grab my test kit if you are in the neighborhood. my guess is you will have a pretty quick cycle in the rock tank, let me know when you want to yank the skimmer and set it in place. seems like that might be the next step.

I hope so. I still haven't looked if I have those cycling test kits yet. Yes I turned off the skimmer in the rock tank. That being said. I won't be using that skimmer till the display tank is setup. The tech running on current display will run the small display tanks.

I don't recall if I ever posted the current setup or not? Either way this is what I will be breaking down after the cycle is done. Where the middle tank with black stand is will go the new display tank. The 240g. Behind that wall is the new fish room I have been working on for 10 months.

Close up of frag tank.

2nd frag tank I added since I had no room left a few months ago.

Awful pic but current display tank

I ordered 30 plus corals from California . They can in today. These r mainly Los since I don't have much. I have over 160 different Zoa and over 100 different spa but not much for soft corals and LPS so this is to help jump start collection

Man this setup is awesome. Took me a while to find this thread. Thanks for the ph controller btw. Finally got it all set up and working. Just seeing the setup was worth the drive for me

Thx. Glad u found it. Glad the controller is working for u. Don't know the age of the probe. Other then that u should be good to go

For Frag tank? Or Zoa?

Well the only frag tank I will have is not up yet. That will be attacked to the spa system. It might go over the Zoa tank, chalice tank, LPS tank, or Ric Yuma mushroom tank. I'm not sure. They r not frag tanks though. they r all display tanks.

Ok measured 24 inch x 24 inch marked with tape. Raised the light till I got full coverage. The magic number is 10 inches for min light spill.

So if its going over the zoa tank, are you saying you are going to place them 6 inches above the water line?

Well 10 inch over the water would give full coverage even at the top of the water line. The water is 8 inch deep. Crushed coral is 1.5 inch so 3 inch off the water will give full coverage at the bottom. I will hang somewhere between that I'm sure

Big thanks to sonicboom once again!

We made the middle section it is now all one piece using acrylic rods and 2 part epoxy. Not sure what tank this will end up being. Was planning this spot as the softy tank.

Getting them all lit up slowly.

Big thanks to snake1 for running the cat5 for the apex to the fish room. I didn't want to go wireless with it. Nice clean professional install.
