260 Gallon Project

Chris the tank looks fantastic. Love the red sea split scape and your choice of corals and fish.

Thanks G, most of my corals came from your place. From small frags to developing colonies. I am way overdue for a visit to your place, I find the corals I pick up from you do very well in my system!

Well done, sir!

This has really progressed nicely!
Thanks, I have a whole lot to go. A reefers job is never done

fts is looking awesome!
do all efflo grow with a stalk base like yours? thinks its pretty neet!
Actually I dont know the answer to that question, pretty interested to know.

some truly amazing shots...what a gorgeous display!
Thanks
Awsome!!!!
Thanks

I like the variety in coral stock. It keeps things interesting.
Thanks, I have actually been thinking about removing the hammers, I have one hammer in there with over 150 heads. Thats why its taking some time to decide

pix are very nice but I still think it looks better in person :)
Trying to capture it's true nature on camera is no joke, I prefer an aquarium view up close and personal as well

Just got done reading this thread. Nice job chris!!!!!
Thanks, it's really come a long way

Tank looks great Chris, love the layout!!!!
Thanks Henry, that Red planet I picked up from you and a few other SPS corals as very small frags.

I have actually upgraded the ballast and now am using dual 250W Galaxy ballast on both sides with 14K Hamilton bulbs. I found that they burn closer to the 10K side on these ballast. I prefer the blue look but they are new bulbs, so I guess I will burn them till they are done. Maybe I will try Radiums next?

I really love enormous euphyllia! Those hammers are very impressive. I would love a large colony of hammer or frogspawn in my tank once it's up.

Radiums are hard to beat IMHO. My other favorite blue lamp is the XM 20kk.

Only thing preventing me from using a higher Kelvin in bulb is loosing out on some growth:sad1:... Currently I have 14K, and get decent growth, I have thought about going lower in Kelvin to get some quicker growth. Tank is almost 30 inches tall. Are XM's similiar in color to Hamilton 14K's?

The XM 20kk has pretty high PAR scores for a 20kk lamp and I've had decent growth under it in the past. It's a pretty blue color, definitely more blue than most 14 - 15k lamps, but not as intense-blue as a radium IMHO.

This:

looks to me like a Long Tentacle Anemone, Macrodactyla doreensis. I would most certainly say it's not a bubble tip (Entacmaea quadricolor).

I didn't thing so, I finally took it off the rock it was attached to. Took me about 3 months of being patient. It it now measuring about 14 inches across and when fully expanded, the size of a soccer ball. I am not sure how big BTA get but I have always had my suspicions this one wasn't. Question is how big is it going to get?Lol
