Lastly any tips on removing anemones from rocks? I also have 10-15 anemones and I want to get rid of some but yesterday when I tried removing the RBTA I couldn't get it off without hurting it.

No eggs yet. Most still huddle together in the Dorms at night. It is funny how the unpaired ones all huddle mostly in the same anemones while there are lots of vacant anemones. I have found absolutely no way to remove a BTA off of a rock without risking damage and I have tried every possible recommended way. I have my rocks leaning against the back and side glass and slowly remove them after they have traveled up the glass with a credit card.

I was just working on it. Other than that poor quality ones taken with my cameraphone, I have never put up a video so stay tuned...

Is it possible to grab a picture off of photobucket? I pretty much have deleted most of my pictures after uploading. If there is a particular one you want, I can look for it. Otherwise, my username is Mliusion on photobucket and I have everything in a public folder.

These were the earlier vids---really blurry and poor quality and were taken actually to show water flow.



So once I figure out how to take and upload a real video, I will post again. Thank you all.

oh, btw, I counted at least 23 clowns the other night.
 
Wow - im inspired - I have an RBTA that has been cloning and taking over an area of my tank - I was wondering how to deal with it - but now I dont think I want to I think Ill move and sell some of my SPS and let them do what they like. Likewise I vowed no more clowns as a pair hounded my nem before - but id guess a bunch om nems would cope
 
Congratulations! What a stunning tank! For my taste, one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

I do have a question though: What is your take on Allelopathy, between corals and anemones, but also between different anemone species? Is it a concern for you? Did you experience any problems? Do you employ any countermeasures? If yes, which?

This is one of the best tanks I have ever seen in person, it truly is a site to see all the clowns swimming around. Very well done Mona.
 
My husband is the reefkeeper, but he has inspired me to begin the long process of reading up on how to start a tank strictly for clowns. I am going to try to do the legwork myself, even though I could ask him everything and save myself a lot of time. I will just consult him on things, but I'd like to say I did it myself. I am driven to do this because we have had an ocellaris pair. Our black clown was simply gorgeous and very playful.
Moving along however, I am interested in doing as you have: raising clown fish. I have purchased a book called Clownfishes, by Joyce Wilkerson. I will take my time, as patience is a virtue with this hobby. I appreciate you posting the pictures of the beautiful little things and the information along with it. Keep up the good work!
 
unique display, great job, was this planned or just happened from continued splitting? how did the idea come about? what were the trials and tribulations?
 
I don't want to gum up your thread. Is there somewhere that goes into your filtration technique in detail? If I understand it corectly, your water is always being slowly changed?

No problems between corals and anemones if they don't touch. If they do touch, some, like Nepthea and Devils's hand leather barely notices. Mushrooms and zoos will disappear after prolonged contact. I never let SPS or LPS touch anemones. I do not use carbon but I do wet skim. The Mag does not touch anything except the rock pillar it is sitting on. Seems to be no problem thus far (six months) between the Mag and BTA's sharing the same tank.

100% planned. I learned from earlier experience with raising Clarkii and anemones running amok. The rearing tanks were so interesting to watch that I wanted to bring it to the big tank. Since Clarkii were much more aggressive, I was fortunate to be able to adopt this clutch of Percs shortly after metamorphasis. RBTA's are from two original anemones. Gbta's from one original anemones three years ago. Many clones from both have been removed as they climb up the walls. The only trials have been getting the flow just right as the anemones like lots of flow but not any directly on them. Also, the continual water change system took some tweeking and modifying. The worse tribulation was that darn Gigantea that didn't do well.

I choose corals and anemones more for overall look like a flower arrangement rather than collecting many different species Pokeman style (ya know... one of every kind!) I find repeating the same corals/anemones esthetically pleasing plus fragging my existing corals is easy to do! My take on reefkeeping is grow what does well and try not to repeat things that don't. Also, for every rare expensive coral/fish, there are many more that look just as good that are budget oriented.
