27 clowns in the same tank 27 months~Thread of the Month

how long did it take for the two to split into many?
My original Rose barely survived in a 20 long for many months. It shrunk down to literally the size of a half dollar. Once I put it in the 240 gallon it just got really big right away and after a few months split into five and kept growing like tribbles. I know that there has been a few times when I've sold a big clone, the new owner ended up with three within the week---probably the result of a big clone with a large water change.

Do u run a chiller ? what do u keep the tank temp. at?
No chiller. Tank around 80 plus or minus a few degrees.
Temperature kept down by LOTS of fans and staggered halides controlled by AquaController.

I gladly did :) I think it would also be very benificial to do more of such things in tank of the month. In my opinion, far too many of thaws are about throwing money at the tank rather than skill and soght involved. This one, for a change, is quite affordable, and its creativity is what makes it special. It is also technically no big deal to replicate, if one wants to. I was planing a similar setup, went astray because of being less than confident that a group of percs as well as a group of nems would get along long term, and am going right back to the original plan right now with renewed confidence that it actually is going to work.

i think that should be WOMAN! and very cool tank. you got me rethinking my tank.

i have 4 clowns in my lighted frag tank with 10 RBTA's. they don't get seen much there though as it is in the garage under the tank.

Thats quite amazing how you're able to raise them to maturity without a single fatality. Great job, man!

I have to confess...I did find one on the floor and I've only been able to of kinda count 20 to 25 for awhile now....

Here are some new pics taken with a flash after the lights have turned off:

Thanks, I just want to add that in case people didn't know, I have no chiller, and I have long since taken the ozone generator and calcium reactor off line though the top off water goes through a canister with kalk in it. The tank and system is completely self contained in the cabinet except for the 1/4" RO water coming in and the 1/4" drain to sewer.

So the tank is just great lights, huge skimmer skimming very wet, sump/refugium, three Tunze Streams and small Eheim 1262 return pump plus little top off switches and drains. :) Oh, I guess I have to add Aquacontroller II with broken ph and orp probes...

Awesome thread and awesome tank. I also breed clownfish. I'm raising GSM's juvis now (this would never work with them because they never stop fighting) and I have 20-30 2 week old percs. I have a couple questions.

Have any of them laid eggs yet? If not I would really love either a PM or just a post in this thread when they do. I am very interested in at what age they reach sexual maturity.

Also I was wondering if the ones that aren't paired up still huddle together at night?

Lastly any tips on removing anemones from rocks? I also have 10-15 anemones and I want to get rid of some but yesterday when I tried removing the RBTA I couldn't get it off without hurting it.

This thread really changed my thoughts on my "big tank" I might have some day.

Except so far I can't find one of those. So cool. :)

Grats on thread of the month! As you can tell by the name, this thread has been right up my alley :) Congratulations, continued success, and ...WOW!

you really need to do a video of your tank on youtube. record in high definition (youtube supports it now), its really beautiful and i think you should share it with everyone :D

also can you post all your high resolution pics you took in a zip file, i wanna use one as my desktop pic on my computer :D (no i wont try and sell the to national geographic or anything!)
