29g setup

Sadly my potter's angel croaked :(

Current fish stocking:

Wrasse
Yasha goby w/pistol shrimp
astraea and nassarius snails
peppermint shrimp

I bought the vortech on 10% off w/free shipping also. Worked for me :) Also free shipping on a GIANT bucket of reef crystals...plus bought some Salifert test kits... PH, Calc, Nitrate. Intending to retire my Hagen Calc and my others are API. Already have a Salifert ALK test kit :)

My ph is still on the low side. 7.7; alk is 7.2 and Calcium is 400. Nitrates are about 2.5.

Alk is a bit low, but not that bad. Corals look fine. My candy cane looks fine. Doing a larger water change (8g instead of 4) in hopes to improve ph and boost alk a bit. I tested my water mix for calcium and got 310 for the first test. I figured I'd made an error and redid the test to get 360 and one more time yielded 350? Low for RC salt!!??!

Here are my new toys!!!

Haven't put the vortech in yet. My hubby wants me to unwrap it for Christmas...lol

They cyano I've been battling looks a lot better.

I haven't needed the fan on for at least the last week or two. Temp is running 78.2-78.6ish. Our main floor is in the upper 60's.

Can't say I blame you about leaving the goby in there! Getting to him would be awful...

I want a Vortech, too, for when I set up my 40b! I just don't think my wife would understand that expenditure at this particular moment...:worried: So, I'll just settle 4 three big honkin' Koralias cluttering things up in a small tank!

Don't sell or pitch the Koralia's when you upgrade the pumps. Remember things can break at moments notice and it's nice to have a back up. I just heard a story told by one of my lrc members. His return pump broke and he didn't have a spare. He found a member that had a spare, but it was midnight when he was able to go get it!

I have the hob filter (Aquaclear) to make my mini fuge and I just bought a small coral life light off RC for $15.

I have one rock that has a little bit of hair algae on it...grrr

Went to the lfs to get a turbo snail and ALL of them were dead...more grrr. I ended up with an emerald crab. I acclimated him and place on the offending rock and observed him picking at it right away!!!! YAY!!!

Will post pictures later. Took a video of him eating, but I don't know how good it is and my camera battery died so I'm charging it.

I would wait if you plan on doing another centropyge species. They need a mature tank. Not only for pristine water quality, but also for good rocks to graze on.

I don't even know if I'm adding one for sure yet. Don't want my corals to get mowed down.

What kind of wrasse is this?

Melanurus wrasse :) And I added him to clean up my flat worms. He's done a fantastic job!!!! YAY!! HIP HIP HOORAY!

Why hasn't the rock colored up more after 9 months???

Like this?

The rock with the zoa on it on the right was added just a few months ago. The main rock w/all the coraline is the original from last March.

This photo was taken 11-29 after half the polyps died.

Look at the re-growth. Sorry about the reflection. My first time using a photobox. And next time I'm going to shut the skimmer off...

Here's a bluelegged hermit. I have 3 of these guys running around. Won't add any more either.

My beautiful yasha. He's unsure of nassarius snails cruising around the den

And one of a peppermint shrimp

Here's my Emerald crab

This is the only rock w/that algae on it. I'm trying to get on top of it before it spreads around the tank :(

I came to that conclusion from wetwebmedia.com (1 of my online marine bibles) there are quite a few different species actually :) LA has only a % of what's out there.

Hi dude! I didn't have a lot of time last time to find the link w/photos and info that someone else had sent to WWM of snails that looked just like mine until now.

Here's a link. They are towards the top.

We'll see if I regret my next purchase or not. May likely be a holey terror. Then I may have to stick with holey terror fish :D

And a new large cleaner.

He went straight for the rocks and hid last night and all this am. Came out briefly this afternoon. Cleaner is hanging out upside down on the lg overhanging rock.

I figure if I want mt pretty fish out later it'll give me something to do...
