Very nice, I'm glad to hear you changed the skimmer and pump. Both were way overkill for that tank, in my opinion, and I can't imagine you were getting much skimmate at all with that skimmer. A Tunze 9004 is a great, well-priced, very easy to use skimmer for that size tank and it uses only 4watts. I'm also a little worried about the yellow tang, but it appears to be in very good health. You'll just need to move it to a far bigger tank eventually. Otherwise, everything looks great, and I really like the stand you made.

Yeah it was a pain dialing in that skimmer and not getting as much skim and all the micro bubbles I had to control...... wanted big equipment so I could just slap in on a bigger tank in the future. But anyway I went with a SCA 301 skimmer I found on ebay for like $96.00 and read many threads on it and so far so good. Just cleaned the cup out this morning but here ya go

I've never had any SCA skimmers before, but like yourself, I've read a lot of good things about them and I'm also in the belief that they are the best "bang for your buck" skimmers available, although I have no experience with them.

Anyway, your tank's looking great.

i was planning on getting the same skimmer but a bubble magus 3.5 used came up and figure i give that a shot. if that doesn't work out i'm going to the sca 301. i had the 302 0n a 150 cube and loved it.

Nice yeah so far it's a great skimmer figured I'd post a second pic of the collection cup now.... I dose vodka so I run the skim more wet was pulling out coffee mate when I was running dryer  this is 2 days of skimmate

well I figured a thread should show the good and the bad of a reef tank so now here goes a crappy swing my tank is currently facing........ so I got adventurous in dosing kalkwaser and had an alk spike killing off my star burst monti, purple monti, red cap is faded bouncing back slowly, green slimmer is bullet proof and growing...... o and have I mentioned the battle of hair algae.... yes laziness has kicked in seeing the decline but on the upside which I don't understand my zoanthids and acans are multiplying and ive been waiting for 2 years for my ironman acans to multiply from 3 heads and now they have to 8:)

skimmer update on the sca 301 the antman pump is garbage on it this week it took a dump on me. manufacture isn't answering my emails so yeah there goes that. im installing a sicce 200psk pump on it this weekend hoping for the best. my t5 bulbs need replacing currently thinking about going led to save myself the "bulb burden." so yeah that's that ill keep you guys updated as things improve.

Well here's my skimmer the sca 301 originally with a Antman ph1100 now running with a sicce psk 200. So far so good pump is super quiet and powerful :)

Sorry to hear about your alk spike. My starburst monti is too small to frag. But I can certainly give you a piece of the purple monti if you like.
