30 rimless tank build

Thanks yeah tanks coming around green hair algae is starting to turn brown on me and in the morning I see strands of it flying around :) slowly but surely should be gone. Corals are doing great making a recovery as well

I've seen lots of threads with people having good success with algae scrubbers. May want to consider one. I was going to try one on my tank but didn't want to run a light in my sump because of my heat issues in the past. It's simple pvc and screening.

problem for me is space..... but that being said I may end up running one once the holiday season is over unless I can find one on black Friday :) they have some now that look like a magnet. Dry side has the red LED and wet side has rough material were the algae can grow. This may be the route I go think the company is called saint Moniqua or something like that

Here's a little holiday update so I've finally dialed in these leds and so far they are performing well getting some growth out of corals I wasn't getting growth from before. As for the green hair algae it's mostly gone some patches are there but I've been keeping up water changes and have been using phosguard from seachem and so far it's slowed the growth down enough for me to brush it off and keep it off. I've taken the opportunity now to start a up flow scrubber thanks to Frank for giving me the final push to get it done. Scrubber is on its second week running now I know it'll most likely take 2 to 3 months to get dialed in so for now I'll keep up my regiment to keep this algae under control. Only draw back I have for phosguard is the corals colors get a little faded mainly my acros and 1 type of zoanthid I have everything else is doing fine though. Will get some pictures of the scrubber later on for you guys it's a little sloppy but I'm sure it'll get the job done.

Awesome another case of LEDs cure the world!!!:p

J/K, glad things are looking better, that's all that matters;)

PS, be careful of taking advice from someone that gives bad advice:eek:

Well guys it's been a while since a update so here it goes. Tank is running great I can't believe the turn around its done my hair algae problem still exist but it's more controlled now...... that said I'm starting to get some bubble algae in certain spots...... it's a constant battle but I'm super happy with the results :) enough talk on with the pics!!

Looks good. Love that last pic with all the zoas and that scoly. I'm in the process of setting a DB 30g rimless myself. Hopefully getting her wet tomorrow.

Yes thank you I manage that section for zoanthid grow out as I'm now going mostly sps dominant ever were else

Here's a birds nest that I needed to get rid of barely fit in a 5 gallon bucke as you can see the blue bucket in the pic. Was in my tank for 1 year pretty much from a small frag.

Back then I wasn't dosing anything really. That's actually when I let my tank go for about 4 months didn't do anything to it but top off. Didn't dose just fed and topped off as needed. Now I'm on top of my levels more I'm dosing 2 part from Kent acropower 2 to 3 times a week, fuel once a week ,marine snow 3 times a week, aquaforest coral food twice a week.

Thanks. I'll have to look at Kent 2 part and all the other foods you've named. I'm pretty sure I'll be use aquaforest product. Think I'm going to order the reef salt tonight so I can mix up some salt and get mine wet.
