47G SPS...Revamp

Sahin, I am following an SPS thread where the hobbiest uses food dye to color his corals. Judging by the tank shots, I would say he uses green food coloring.
Then before he posts his pics, he photoshops them.
I don't want to expose this reefer, i like his thread, so if you want his name for correspondence, let me know.

Marty

Corals are browned out though......
If the corals start to look healthy within the next 3 weeks, I'll start posting some pics up of my super brown corals.

This is the one you got sahin. As far as I know, this is the original formula. I have been using it at 5-10ml per cup of tank water for 10 minutes without issues.

Sean.. sahin. Just discovered your real name. :)
Glad to hear your aefw ordeal is almost over.
I have been using this type of Bayer at a dosage of 10 ml/cup(250) ml tank water and have not lost any corals except for a very sensitive frag of a. Caroliniana, I think. But it had just shipped over night from Toronto and it arrived on the cool side..
Sean, the corals will bounce back in no time!
Post some brown shots so that we can marvel at the coloration in a few weeks.

One question.... Do we know AEFW will carry in on brand new fresh live rock or only live rock stay in LFS a while? or not at all, only when you buy Acropora coral from LFS?

Only on Acropora.

I mean its theoretically possible for them to hitch-hike in with LR but i its theoretically possible to win the lottery as well .... and i guess equal odds.

@sahin hang in there buddy! I just beat AEFW for the third time and 2 months later the corals are finally starting to show some color again.

Wow Satin. Just found your thread over here. Sorry to hear about all your troubles. First having to break the tank down for mysterious RTN/STN issues, and then once everything seems to be clipping along after the restart you discover AEFW. Glad to see that you are keeping a positive attitude and attacking the problem head on. Very glad to hear that you have not been seeing any AEFW in your most recent dips. Keep your spirits up and keep up the great work. Can't wait to see the display full of healthy, happy, AEFW free corals soon.

I'm sure you will make them colorfull again buddy in no time,as long as you are clear of aefw!
Glad they are still alive, despite the misfortunes.Like the guys stated above, that's the most important part!
Have big respect for your strength my friend for holding in there and not giving up:beer:

p.s
Sorry if you have mentioned it before, but have you tried kz's flatworm stop?
Just to have a small help

I haven't heard much positive about the flatworm stop..
Wish I had... I'd use it profylactically all the time..

You got the right idea. Colors come back fast don't sweat it. Getting the slime coat back and increased PE (which maybe fine already) is the first step. Just be careful with the short Photoperiod. If you see any base STN increase the PP, this has been my experience.
FWIW I tossed my coral rx and revive in the garbage. I only use bayer for now, much less stressful on the corals.

You my friend have a very good understanding of SPS corals; exactly as you say, the corals need to get their slime coat back.

I would use Bayer, but I have spent nearly $50 to have one shipped to the UK...and it hasnt turned up. I dont want to chance it again and lose another $50. :(

Hi Sahin,

What happened with kalk?

Slight overdose. :headwallblue: Using kalk because my doser is broken. Saving for Apex now. Doser will be sent to Germany for repair.

Marty, lets code name that reefer as Gibbles or Nibbles (please choose one name). Yes, I know of his technique. Its very interesting advancement in the hobby...for the moment I shall stick to letting my acros recover in their usual way. :D

Sean??? You've been sniffing acro slime mate. Or drank a glass of Acropower maybe??? -that crap does nothing much for corals but seems to have good effect on us  SWK's name is Sean. My real name is Sahin. :)

I hope the AEFW ordeal is over. :strange: I am going to keep dipping upto 3 months regardless to make sure I got them good. Aint letting these bastards kill my corals I drove all over to acquire and spent money on! :uzi::angryfire:

Only on Acropora.

Ormet, thanks man. Knowing you beat the bastards makes me feel better.

Question is...how certain are you that they are gone?

Hope you nuked them bugs bud..
You bet. I've killed many and it feels good knowing I've killed at least the ones that almost killed of my pink millepora colony!

Keep up the good fight man!
You my friend is another person that gave me real hope because I know you beat them as well. Well done on doing that.

Hopefully I will get the tank looking good again. And this time even improve on the level of colouration I had before. I aint giving up on my acros. Love them acros.

Thanks for the words of support guys.

As for KZ Flatworm Stop...it doesnt help with AEFW directly, but I've read of good reports about it helping the acros to recover...but the smallest bottle in the UK costs almost $55 shipped...thats kinda steep for what it is.

Good going bro fighting through the flatworm.

Will have some frags for you soon give me a shout

Thanks man. I should have frags of Red Planet and Blue Tort...but would not dare hand over any frags to you or anyone else for at least 3 months after I have finished the 3 months dipping process...only then will I consider having the AEFW beat.

If you can sort out some frags that would be nice though.

Well, Sean... Now I know why everybody keeps calling you sahin!!!! :)
Don't worry, Sean, I can keep a secret....

Save the postage and throw the doser out the back door like i do with temperamental reef stuff, my hanna phos tester still works despite the white top bit flying off upon contact with the ute tray..........

It's great to hear things are going well in removing the pests mate. :)

Remember your acros aren't brown from nutrient issues so don't treat them that way and keep the food up to the system so they can rely on the water for more of their nutrition and expel surplus zoa no longer required for energy - once they get over you dipping them in poison....... Anyway, i know you know what you're doing Sean, Sahin, Moriarty.......... whatever your real name is......:crazy1:

Glad to hear your winning the battle sahin/Sean/stirrer of Mikes photos :lolspin:
Fingers crossed they do not return for you my friend and all goes well from here on in ;)

That bayer STILL hasn't made it? I wonder if it got snagged at customs? That sucks sahin. I hope it shows up. Did the other package from China arrive yet?

The package from China arrived a few days ago.

There used to be a US company that used to ship this stuff to the UK, so I dont know why customs would hold it. But its possible.

I will wait to see if any other reefer comes over to the UK from the USA and ask them to bring a couple of bottles with them. I might have family going to the USA in the next 6 months...but it doesnt help the situation at hand.

I am so disappointed to hear this sahin.

I swear I'm cursed when shipping internationally. I also sent a doser back to China in September and it still hasn't arrived. On both occasions I used us postal service international "first class". Needless to say my experience has been anything but first class....

Really, really sucks to hear.

No worries man. I'm happy that you took the time out to help. That counts more than anything.

The Revive is working well in any event; I have sensitive acros such as turaki, echinata, speciosia and others...all still fine.

I guess I would have liked to try out the Bayer as it seems like such a better dip.
