47G SPS...Revamp

I see that granulosa!! Awesome.
Your tank is just around the corner from being better than it was.
I notice in the reflection that you were running at least one pink bulb.
Are you still- sorry don't recall.
I added one to my mix for a bit but I didn't like how it made the tank look ever so slightly mauve in general cast.
Do you find the pink bulb really has an appreciable benefit to the corals?
I know some reefers swear by them..

Which pink bulb did you use? If it was a purple Plus it wouldn't surprise me...

I can only hope my reef will be worthy one day to post pics. until then ill keep following you sps guys...all the while getting my own experience...

Thanks. But do Start a thread. You get discussing about things and do learn things along the way. You can also look back and see how much you save improved. Posting photos means you get feedback.

god i love your builds sahin
Thanks for following along man.

I have no doubt you will achieve success with this tank. Everything is already looking amazing. BTW, I bought that flipper thing and boy it's awesome! Best purchase I've made in a while.
Thanks. I love that Flipper magnet. Cleaning ALL 4 sides of my tank is sooo much easier.

Biggles can stick with his blade stuck on a broomstick to scrape his tank clean.

Great Job !! Tank looks awesome
Thank you. :)

It was a Purple+ tube. Prior to that tube I used a KZ FijiPink. Both look same to me.

It helps because it provides an extra boost in the orange-red spectrum. In an 8 tube combo one of those tubes work fine.

Now I'm running 4xCoral+, I don't see the need. Remember on any hybrid T5/LED fixture a Purple+ or equivalent works very well because the mauve cast you speak of is much reduced because the fixtures have various LEDs to customise the overall look.

Nice colors buddy great job. Would love to see this tank in person.

Your welcome to my home any time you're in London. Just don't bring Kevin with you...Biggles will surely send him along to get up to no good.

d'oh... i just saw your answer to 74killer... no more pink bulbs..
I'm running a lagoon blue and two coral+....along with an actinic and a blue+.. I'm not going to worry about the pink...
yep, matt, it was a purple plus..

I have a pretty good mix right now for depth of color and brightness, for 12 bulbs I have 3 Purple, 3 ABS, and 6 Blue. The purple/Pink bulbs can tint the whole tank Mauve pretty easily if you lose the balance of Red VS Green&Blue.

+1 to above. Need to balance with suitable ratio of other tubes.

Your combo above is almost like the 1:1 Coral+:Blue+ that Ed (Big E) recommends.

Loving the light blue tips and the green pigment further down.

This is one of my favorites that you have posted. Love the colors. Well I took your advice and picked up a frag of red planet on Saturday. LFS had one frag left and I jumped on it! Can only hope one day it will look like yours.

I love that granulosa so much!
Me too. I hope it returns to its former awesomness. :D

Thanks. The coral looked awesome in my buddys tank. He had a full siezed colony; its where I got the frag from. He lost it soon afterwards though...but got a frag back from the LFS. Mine needs more nutrients or less light. Its colouration is not as strong as I hoped it would be.

You will love the Red Planet...I find its a coral that colours up so easily...and looks amazing too. Has lovely grown form and awesome polyps that sway around in the flow.

Looking at the pics of your old tank you had bugger all fish in there mate, is that just the pics or did you stock lightly.
How's my red planet going, have you ruined it by getting it to green up more yet :spin3:

Have you got many stags and what type of growth acros do you like personally. :)

Hi mate,

I had 4 chromis, 1 Tomini and the ugly Bangai...so not much i suppose...

I've been meaning to ask you, considering I have a decent skimmer, run chaeto and have a 47G system; how many fish do you propose I should have?

With regards to the Red Planet: still red. But I saw some green around the base on the colony in the center of the tank. But you wouldnt know unless you looked for the green pigment specifically.

In terms of SPS: I prefer branching type; which means 95% of the corals in my tank are acros. I have a love for millepora and so have at least 10 different types.

The only stag type SPS have I have is a decent sized frag of hoekemai and a bright green one...not sure which species it might be...its too smal at moment.

Are you still using a barbers blade stuck on a broomstick to scrape your tank clean? :uhoh3:

I used to spend at least 30-45 mins each week cleaning the glass on my tank. Now I get the job done in less than 10 minutes and its far less work. :)

Sahin you know my answer to the how many fish question 😂 I expect to see at least 20 :)

Bro...the most fish I had in this tank was about 9...and 4 of them were Chromis with 2 small clowns...

20??? I will try...if you promise to supply me with a frag of that nice Red Dragon in the next few months...

Take a short stop on your way to him and pick up the frag you want from my tank as well then.

It will be in a couple of months, so your frags would have been nicely grown. It will be dependant on Ahmed driving me to your place though...

Would you like frags of Red Planet and Blue Tort? I'll bring one of each, unless you have them already...I can also bring a frag of Claytons original green turaki with blue tips.

I'll be bringing my camera gear so be prepared for a small photoshoot of your tank and corals. :celeb1:

I had better attach a frag to a frag plug then. I like the sound of your camera gear. I will post a picture as soon as possible.

I am not aware of Clayton's green turaki. I am familiar with his "blue" turaki, which I never managed to grow after trying twice. His "blue" turaki always looked more green than blue though in my tank/under my lights. Is this what you are referring to:

It is supposed to look like this, but never did in my previous tank.

You have to be pretty much ultra ULNS to get it to look like that mate
