Things look incredible in your tank. amazing colors and great photos. What ever that acro is in the last picture of post 688 I need it! That thing is going to be so good ,the color is just going to really come out and be ridiculous soon.

Buddyyyyyyy these are some of the best pics you've ever "clicked" and one of the best i've seen:beer:
Great job sahin!
You are a photographer too in my book, aside from a great reefer:thumbsup:

Corals look really nice and i loved that SSC' come back!

How many anthias do you have?

I have to say, while join in on the chorus :P that you've done a really fantastic job with those shots mate, they're bloody brilliant! :eek2: Especially those anthias pics :inlove: definitely going to get myself a nice group of anthias for the new tank! Your pics have made that decision a much more solid one lol

The acro's and tank are looking really healthy and happy mate, some wicked colours going on in there!I have to say your tank is up there with Andrew's for me :) Keep up the stunning work mate

Everyone should know the real reason Sahin is taking long breaks between posting photos. It appears that his months of shipping Kevin booze and koala pornography has paid off. He now has Biggles secret acro coloring techniques. Going off previous slips from Biggles himself, it takes time to pull all of the acros out of the tank and inject them with food coloring.

My only question is do you have to have food coloring shipped up from the land of dingos or does any old food coloring work?

Have you ordered the iron lung yet mate, don't want you over exerting yourself having to breathe......... You know your thumb and forefinger do the same thing if you put the test vial between them. Btw, that doesn't mean you now ask Shih to 3D print you some fingers.........:debi:

Hi Shih, I made a video of the magnetic stirrer. Its an awesome little creation.
Many thanks my friend. I use it to do my alk test VERY quickly every few days.

Sahin, the time/money you spent on this could have been applied to getting your computer back up sooner. This stirrer is responsible for us waiting longer for your awesome pics. Think about that:hmm3:

Sahin can we see a picture of your sump?! I will need to read back to see what you use for filtration.. I'm color blind so the only color i cant see is brown;)
I'll try and get a shot of the sump this week. Sorry I completely forgot your request.

You're gonna need a bigger tank! A true coral hoarder....takes one to know one. Looking good!
Yup, like you I hoard acros. My buddy is opening largish coral farm to the public soon...I am worried about all the new frags coming my way...:eek2: My other half wont let me get a larger tank till we move out into a larger place. :headwally: So I'm going to have to make choices and get rid of some to make space for more.

Great pic Sahin, your tank is looking incredible!
Thanks man. Hopefully in a years time tank will look good and I can be proud of my efforts. : :spin2:

Awesome FTS Sahin! Looking at your tank just gave me a sudden urge to buy more frags. I was going to let what i have grow out but you got me convince quantity is better than size?!?! lol.
Haha, quantity will have to go down at some point. But we will see. :)

Hi Sahin,

Your tank looks really nice and lively with the new anthias in it. Let's hope you can keep them alive over a long period of time.

I have never been successful with anthias despite feeding them regularly and often.

I went to Cockfields today to drop some frags from my tank. I successfully resisted the strong urge I had to buy five female lyretail anthias I saw in there. They were only £17 each. However, having considered my unsuccessful historical background, I turned my head away for the sake of the fish.

Mark has now a few of my A. copiosa frags, which you fancied. If you want he can deliver them to you. They are not particularly big though. I will take the biggest and thickest frags to him when he gets my Genicanthus watanabei in the Autumn. These fish are not cheap. I saw three large females (3+ ") in Abyss yesterday. They were £85 each.

Cheers

Bulent
Thanks Bulent. My friend is starting a business soon, so there will be many choice Acro frags coming my way. I'm going to hold out for only premium/rare stuff from now on.

Sahin,
Thanks for the FTS, while I know you are not totally pleased with your corals, I am confident that it will be back to epic status in short order. The tank looks great BTW...
Regards,

Thanks Perry. Since out email/PM exchange, there have been some improvements in the SPS colours. I'm just hoping that the remaining brown SPS follow suit.

The colors of the corals are great! I really think so!

This magnetic stirrer chemical is sensational for the tests. I'll buy that idea and retire some Hanna tests since many are finding errors in the reactants.

A big hug Sahin!

WOW!!!
Sahin your colors look awesome, dang some of those corals are just glowing!!!
Thanks buddy. Some SPS sure do look nice now. Hopefully in the coming months I can post more photos like this. :)

Those are some fantastic pictures Sahin! I love the Anthias, how many do you have in there now? The Shortcake looks great too!
I have 1 male and 4 females. I was told one or two females will likely end up dying apparantly, so I got 4 females in the hope that at least 2 remain. So far they all look good. I've been feeding the tank like crazy lately.

Wow, all acros have nice PE and encrusting. The transformation on the ssc was very nice. How long did it take to turn to this beauty? Are you still using the Pacific Sun light fixture?
Still using PacSun fixture. The SSC was poo brown only a few weeks ago. Only change I have made is that I am feeding a lot more and have way more fish.

Great photos Sahin! Fish are so hard to photograph and yours are so sharp! Great colors coming out in those acros and that SSC transformation is amazing.

Thanks for the update.
Thanks for the nice compliment buddy. :)

I'm really gobsmacked at how beautiful ALL those images are Sahin. I can't believe those fish pics, my male lyretail anthias is about half way through getting his colors so looking at your guy put a big smile on my face.
I'm really pleased for you that the tank is well on its SPS way again, all the hard work you put in to the hobby really shows in those pics my friend
Your SSC is looking like it supposed to which is a sure sign the water is right again. :)
Thanks Biggles. Means a lot coming from the King Bluethumb Acro ColourUpper. :D

I paid extra for that bloody male Anthia. But he is a handsome fish and adds much needed movement to the tank.

Yeah the SSC is a nice sign; so I am just going to continue doing what I am doing with the tank and no big changes.

That is one fat wrasse!!!

How long is your photoperiod?
That wrasse just ate a load of mysis and flakes. :D The photoperiod is 9 hours for the LED's ramping up and down etc and then 7 hours for the T5.

Sahin, beautiful shots!!
Corals are looking fantastic!
Often, the shots are darkened slightly to bring out more subtle colors- I do this sometimes to enhance the saturation but your shots are so bright, crisp and colorful. Love them.
The last coral in the first group is stunning. Love the red polyps and blue body.
Really nice editing. Amazing color!
Fish shots are so bright and clear, as well..
Do you use any hdr software for processing? It looks like just a hint of it.
Beautiful!
Thanks Matt. I always shoot in manual mode and at peak light intensity. This ensure at least somewhat even brightness throught the tank. I always run at least 3 white tubes (including one or two ATI ABS tubes), so the image is bright.

I do use photoshop to resize and crop if requried. I then make adjustments to either the BLUE/RED/GREEN channel is LEVELS as requried...eg although our eyes cannot differentiate, under LED cluster for example, the camera will pick up slightly different white balance than say a coral with an ABS tube immediately above it.

Adjusting LEVELS gets most of the images to a close enough white balance. Levels is sometimes used to brighten up the image; eg if I had to underexpose slightly due to extremes of dynamic range required/light intensity.

I then reduce or increase saturation as required. Rarely do I increase saturation, and it is only to the point of getting the image to same level as what I see with my eyes.

Lastly, some sharpening is done. However if the subject is out of focus in the original image, no amount of sharpening is going to help. I shoot 99% of the time with the Tamron 90mm Macro, this is a tack sharp lens to begin with so the good quality/sharp images start there.

I havent messed with HDR, though I am aware roughly what it is. I think the look comes from the fact that I shoot in JPEG and then make adjustments to the WHITE BALANCE using the LEVELS command in Photoshop.

Great photos, some of the corals are really coloring up well. Glad to see it!
Thanks. I hope the trend continues. :spin1:

Sahin - your corals look amaze!!!!!
Thank you! :)

Everything is looking great sahin! Excellent photography as well.
Thank you. Hopefully next year my tank will look half as decent as your tank.

Nice photos Sahin. How do you get such great photos of the fish?!
Thanks.

Believe it or not all those fish shots were taken HANDHELD in full manual mode adjusting shutter speed/aperture on the fly. It took some time and loads of shots to get a few good images. The Tamron 90mm helps getting a quality shot if my focusing is decent.

Thats what I want to know as well!
Lots of practice and having had my 12 year old Nikon D70 for so many years I've learnt to use it to its full potential.

Things look incredible in your tank. amazing colors and great photos. What ever that acro is in the last picture of post 688 I need it! That thing is going to be so good ,the color is just going to really come out and be ridiculous soon.
I love that acro. At one point it had green tips...so...reddish base and green tips...hopefully I can get it to show both colours well. Waiting game now.

Buddyyyyyyy these are some of the best pics you've ever "clicked" and one of the best i've seen

Hey buddy, thanks for the nice compliments. You are too generous with the compliment though. LOL.

I have one male and 4 females as I was told by my LFS one or two females are likely to die. So far all are doing well.

I have to say, while join in on the chorus that you've done a really fantastic job with those shots mate, they're bloody brilliant! :eek2: Especially those anthias pics definitely going to get myself a nice group of anthias for the new tank! Wow, thanks for the compliment matey. But I am no way as good as Biggles, that bloomin guy has a blue thumb for growing and colouring up corals.

Those Anthias are pretty cool and add lots of movement. They do need lots of feeding though.

Nice pics, stunning colours
Thanks. Hope the corals look better in some months.

very cool, got your computer fixed and all corals look amazing.....
Yup, had the screen replaced and all is working fine.

Everyone should know the real reason Sahin is taking long breaks between posting photos. It appears that his months of shipping Kevin booze and koala pornography has paid off. I'll have you know that I had to make booze for both koala and Biggles. Of course the stuff made for Biggles had skimmate fluid in it too. But Biggles hasnt given me all the different coloured dyes yet. So I need to send more booze next month. I'll be making a new barrel but add some acro slime for that extra kick. I'm sure Biggles will like CoralReef Beer! :D

Haha, you are just jealous of my new reef toy. 3D printed and custom made. Like when you got very jealous of my Flipper Magnetic cleaner...because you have to clean your tank glass with an old broomstick...

Sahin, the time/money you spent on this could have been applied to getting your computer back up sooner. This stirrer is responsible for us waiting longer for your awesome pics. Think about that
Was a gift. Was made using a 3D printer, so its cool. Stirrer was resposible for cutting down time. LOL. And is positively responsible for improving my tank as its a cool and useful toy hence I am more inclined to test my tank parameters.

Awesome pics mate!
Thanks matey.

Thank you my friend. I've always loved your tanks. Must see what you're upto these days.

Such a stunning and inspiring build....thank you for sharing!
No problem. Thank you for the compliment.

Tank is looking amazing my friend colors and growth just crazy.
Hey buddy. Thanks. Hope all the corals look good in time.

Wow, thanks for the compliment matey. But I am no way as good as Biggles, that bloomin guy has a blue thumb for growing and colouring up corals.
That man has more than just a blue thumb, he's bloody blue everything! :beachbum: lol But you're definitely up there in my books mate :)

Man, I'm surprised at the lack of love for the Bartlett Anthias. I've had my trio for almost a year, and they are chubby, healthy beasts. Great looking too

I went for the Lyretails purely because I was told they'd be the easiest to keep alive and kind of mid range in terms of aggressiveness towards each other.

Are your Bartlett's eating flakes? How did you manage to get them on flakes? Tips/tricks etc would be appreciated. Mine only eat frozen food.

My single lyretail would only eat frozen, until I added 4 resplendents, the lyretail changed to male in about a week and started eating flake! Go figure.
