47G SPS...Revamp

Noooooo Sahin, Noooooo! You went to the dark side!

I really wanted you to put a 250w Radium with Reefbrites over that tank.

I'm going to make a prediction... remember I'm the first.

- You won't like the colors you get from the corals within 1 month. You will stick it out but eventually you will go back to t5s or MH. -

And so you know, I had a Force Vision.

Reef is looking bloody yummy Sahin

You should put the two outside giggle lights on a 10 degree inward facing angle imho (i'm not really humble as you know) :p

I hope things go well for you with the LED's buddy

Happy new year to you as well Mindy. Radiums will always be #1 in my books too. I wish an LED manufacturer would actually take one of these lights and create a fixture with the exact same spectrum...that would be amazing wouldn't it? :D

Uhm, no thanks. :D I want my Acros to look good from all angles, not just top down. :) I like LED for accent lighting, but I am not interested in them for primary lighting. I'm just not a fan of how they look - the flicker gives me headaches.

Sahin, I think it looks great. You're running LED the way they need to be run for SPS. I have no doubt that you'll succeed with this lighting scheme.

Yeah, I agree Sahin! Though you mounted them really high imo. Maybe that works better with such good coverage. The light spill into the room would drive me nuts.

Looks great Sahin. Now put some endcaps on that light rack. Its too nice to be left like that, LOL!

I'm also very curious what program you are running and the changes you see in the coming months. As far as pictures, its nearly impossible to take good pics with LED. Filters are the best bet, but you can do some with PP. Just be patient at first. You're better off letting things brown out at first from underlighting rather than pushing too hard too soon. You'll notice some colors will look better and pop more, and some won't. I know this is just an experiment for you and I'm sure you are aware of all the compromises LEDs have. I still like them a lot. May not be as "nice" as the other choices, but the compromises work for me. Looking forward to updates!

Hello Sahin,

Looking good.
For photos you need to put your lights at full power. This will give you a 12K tone. It should be easier to shoot.

All the best,
Rui

No need to adjust or filter camera, simply adjust Radions. I find that 6500K profile photographs well under Radions. Use Live Demo in ESL to experiment until you find a profile and brightness that yields the image you want. Easier to adjust lights than to fumble around with the gel filters and iPhone in my opinion. When done photographing simply resume schedule.

Beautiful tank. What profile are you currently running?

Im hoping Sahin cracks the code on Radions so I can duplicate.

If he does it's going to be expensive- 2 Radion Pros and one regular for 30". He's doing it right but at that density my SPS tank would require 8-10 of them:eek1:

Finally got my camera and memory card back from work. So here is a bunch of photos...

BTW... Pictures look great under LEDs. Hopefully you wont lose any color. Do you think you could have gotten away with 2 Radions or did you need 3?
