5.56 225 Peninsula reboot

I would have thought hawkins echinata....

edit: nvm, I was looking at "Ultra RAP 800 rainbow" pic

Yes, that’s aBout a 12” Hawkins. Really an awesome coral.

So, I found 4 fish, there may be more, in my overflow.

Green target mandarin (been MIA 8 months)
Bicolor Benny (MIA 6 months)
Purple fire fish (MIA 2 months)
Diamondback goby (MIA 1+ month)

I have to figure out how the heck to get these fish out.

Mark your tank is doing so well fish are showing up at it's doorstep

I thought that looked like an Oregon tort! Nice work on it.

That Oregon tort has been struggling for well over a year. It's been attacked by algae, dinos and cyano. It's finally getting it's stride. It's just getting thicker right now but I think it's going to burst into branches soon

Wow amazing they lived that long there.
How did they get into O/F? No cover?

The mandarin, at least 6 months as well as the bicolor. the firefish had to be 2 months and the diamond back probably a month I don't have slits in my overflow, they can just swim over the falls LOL

Here is a funny old photo I took, who wants a frag of tis?

Your tank is really taking off, great additions as well. I think you're right about the adjustment from led to mh. My tank is starting to grow pretty well now a couple months into mh/t5.

Thanks, it's seems to be pre-teen or early adolescence but I'm definitely past the toddler stage.

I had a bad case of dialysis and Dino's but I didn't treat the cyano because I was afraid that the killing the cyano would make room, physically and biologically, for the Dino's to flourish. The cyano got so bad that I was forced to treat it and it turned out that I didn't have a Dino problem. The cyano was just so bad that it was make it balloon and string bubbles.

The wife made mention of how warm the room is in the morning with the lights, so pretty soon I will have to switch the 400's back down to 250's For the summer.

It's ok, you have solar now. Just turn up the AC.

Co2 in a sealed house lowers the tank pH

:(

The place is 2K soft with a 22YO 3ton AC.... It doesn't even keep up on the really hot days without the tank.

Hey babe, I need to spend another $7K so I can run my lights..... but then I could run whatever lights I like in my new home alone....LOL

Since adding a new kalkwasser stirrer, my alk and ca have skyrocket. I even shut off the calcium reactor over a week ago but still, my readings this weekend were 13 and 460

Wednesday my NoPox pump got left on for 8 hrs. I had turned it on for a few minutes but either I forgot to turn it off or my internet gliched but either way it dosed a lot of NoPox which caused a bacteria bloom on Friday and killed most of my fish on Saturday. I am really bummed, almost depressed. I still have 2 yellow tangs, diamond back gobey, percula clown, aptasia eating file fish, bi-color blenny and anything else that's hiding but all my big fishe are dead and it's my fault.

Thanks Richard and ftampa. Funny, all the fish I found in the overflow last month made it. Only one yellow, my only big fish made it. I lost my winter wonderland frag and my big Hawkins is decimated, about a 60% loss. Also at one point I saw several of my aptasia nudibranchs floating around. The aptasia all survived..go figure, the rest of my coral seem unaffected. For as big of a screwup as I did, the tank came through it really well on the whole.

At this point, the tank is recovering but working on it is depressing to me :( What’s worse is the family is home QT with COVID-19, which would be a great time to spruce up the tank but I don’t even want to clean the glass, it’s just sort of depressing. I hope that fades.

EDIT: We don’t have COVID, we are doing the social distancing thing so we don’t get it.

Very sorry to read mark. That’s a sad day. I still got a couple frags for you when your in the area.

Oh man so sorry for this =(. This feeling is the worse unfortunately.. Hope you feel good soon

Mark that is a real bummer. I totally understand how you feel. I didn’t what to do anything with my tank for 3 or 4 months after my Apex killed most of my SPS. Now I have a bunch of algae due to my neglect and it just makes it worse. I think I would be even more bummed if I lost a bunch of my fish. Not sure I would stay in the hobby if that happened.

Thanks Steve.

I'm doing water tests today... it's not quite as depressing as it was a week ago.

I hate Hanna Po4 checker.. wait 3 minutes and look away for 10 sec and the results vanish :(. Had to d 3 tests today before I didn't miss the output :(. I'll post results.
