A Low Country Reef Tank....one more final upgrade

Nice camera. I picked up the same one this summer. Haven't gotten around to buying a macro lens yet. Which one did you get?

I have an older cannon that I keep overseas now looking into a newer camera for Home and for my tank, Like to stay with Cannon to exchange lenses etc........ Nice pictures Steve = nice corals and fish..

I have been playing with the big boy camera and macro lens and took some pretty good shots tonight. These were taken without a tripod and with pumps on.

Steve - you have come a long ways bud. Next steps is pumps off for minimum 20 mins and using a tripod. you will be surprised at how crisp your shots will be. I am wish I had something to take pictures of in my tank! Keep up the good work....

Thanks Henry....I was too lazy to get out the tripod yesterday but will definitely do it next time.

Awesome shots!

Nice looking Regal, how big? How does it do with the corals?

The regal is about 4" and for the most part its ok with corals. I catch taking nips at lobos and acans from time to time.

Some beautiful shots Steve! I think it's time we trade off some frags when it gets warmer:)

Thanks Dustin! totally up for swapping!

Interesting. We have been thinking about trying at least 2 angels in the new build, a Goldfake and trying to decide between a Regal, Emperor, or Majestic. Haven't really made up my mind though because we have a somewhat extensive rainbow acan hoarding problem. :spin2:

When it nips, is it taking bites or just mouthing them? I seen your acans in the photo and they look great, and they are red which I have heard some crazy angels like to target red. I was hoping to get the angels small and keep them well fed, including morning feedings in an effort to train them to stay on a prepared food and liverock pecking diet.

We once had a medium/large sized sailfin tang go rogue and hit every neon green splash of color on a bunch of rainbow acans in a matter of 36 hours. I think he was a little hungry, we were out of town and the autofeeder was turned off on mistake... He went terminator, super aggressive and looked somewhat crazed while going after the acans :uzi:. Surprisingly right after that the foxface followed right in his footsteps and was almost just as bad. It was a real mess because once they started it was as if they preffered the acans over prepared food and algae. I think they may have targeted the green thinking it was algae. We've also had the sailfins eat dying zoas/palys, but not touch any healthy ones. It just goes to show any fish can go crazy.

Sometimes it's just an innocent and sometimes it's more! I had a gold flake once and it went after everything. Totally agree with getting them smaller. I try to keep mine fed so he doesn't get any urges. My other angel the genicanthus semifaciatus is a model citizen.

Hopefully we can find a well behaved Goldflake, last thing we need is to spend good money on a terror in the tank lol. Isn't it funny how some angels are model citizens and some are just honeybadgers. We had a coral beauty that never even looked at a coral.

FedEx Thursday......I decided to upgrade my rodi from the BRS system to an Aquafx Octopus system. 200gpd, 1:1 rejection , chloramine buster, auto flush, dual resin, booster pump....pretty impressed with how it's all put together.

Hi Steve, incredible build. Looks awesome. If I may ask what is it you liked better about this rodi system. Looking for something similar for my build very soon. Are the filters, carbon block and membranes better quality?

Thanks Bryan

I got this acanthophyllia a few weeks ago and tonight was the first I saw these colors. I only had my cell phone and didn't want to waste time running into the house. The colors are 1000 times nicer in person!!!
