A Reef Tank in the Desert - +/- 1,400 gallon system

Dan, it's been a while since commenting! Your build is looking great... I have actually been in Scottsdale over the last few weeks and should have contacted you to see it in person. I should be back out there in the next three weeks and maybe we can arrange a quick tour!

Faziosman thank you!

Let me know anytime that you are going to be in Arizona.

My house is about a 3 hour drive from Scottsdale.

Thank you Geraud.

Great article in Advanced Aquarist. I need to get the French article translated.

The weather has gotten a lot nicer so I have been leaving the window adjacent to the skimmer, open in the fish room. I had the alarm company out to wire the screens and fish room door. I think running a fresh air line to the skimmer might be a good option during our hot summer months!

I appreciate you thinking about my system and the oxygen issue.

Would that work in accordance with your ozone?

I am not sure. I don't know why it wouldn't. The whole premise is getting fresh air into the skimmer/fish room.

It would definitely be easy for me to do. My skimmer does come with two air intakes. One is connected to the ozone and the other is pulling in air from the fish room. I would think that fresh air is always better and to run a hose 3' out the back window would not be difficult.

FedEx Friday II!!!!

FedEx Friday II!!!!

I felt like I was a kid on the Home Shopping Network today!

I had a few appointments today, where I had to wait an extensive period of time in the lobby/waiting rooms - that I went nuts internet shopping on my iPad.

It's going to be a big day on Friday with orders coming in from Fresh Marine, Marine Gardens, Diver's Den (Live Aquaria), Blue Zoo Aquatics and Coral Theory.

I just hope that I have the afternoon to myself!

That's my biggest fear of ordering livestock online, wish I had that confidence to order big orders like you've been making

Isn't that the best way to spend your time when you have to wait on other people. Can't wait for Friday to get here.

FedEx Friday!!!!

FedEx Friday!!!!

Long, long day!

I will try to post pictures of all the coral I had delivered sometime tomorrow.

Needless to say, I bought the Dollar Store out of all their Super Glue Gel!

Dan,

Head over to your local hobby store. You can buy large bottles of Crazy Glue Gel much cheaper and the big bottles are easier to use.

PS - Then run by Costco and buy a couple of boxes of surgical gloves.

PSS - At the hobby store they have a little bottle of magic stuff that disolves Krazy Glue - Good thing to have sitting in a drawer some where for the day you forget to put on your gloves.

Reeksreef:

A lot of the warranties you get from online companies are better than what you will find at your LFS. I try to have my LFS order directly from the wholesaler for specific items, however, a picture speaks 1,000 words.

The Divers Den at Live Aquaria and the WYSIWYG at Blue Zoo are two great examples. Live Aquaria gives you a 14 day guarantee, no questions asked. Blue Zoo gives you 7 days - you need to email pictures. PETCO online, not bad for Chromis, gobies, cheap fish, etc...gives you a 14 day guarantee - again, no questions asked. You may pay a few dollars more, but the guarantees are Great!

Well I've somewhat made my first order of livestock from reefs2go.com of a clean up crew. Btw if you're looking for a cleanup crew check them out, great prices.

I order from there all of the time. Christina, Nikki & Dionne are great!

You picked an excellent choice for cleanup crews!

Dan,

Where are the pics from Fridays deliveries ?

Dave B

Hey Dave!

I have got everything glued/placed in the tank. Maybe tonight I can shoot some pics. I also am planning on shooting a video soon. I finally found my wife's digital camcorder.

Regards...

Photo Update

Attached are some of the photos from FedEx Friday. Mostly acro's. I did pick up a carpet anemone and green bulb too.

The picture quality isn't great. I told my wife and kids that I want a new camera for my birthday this year.

Hey Dan, some really nice additions. I love "fedex friday!". Usually when I tell my wife that I am "working" from home her response is, "how many boxes are coming today?". A couple of the pieces in the picture look like they are bleaching or losing tissue. Is that just the camera or are they stressed a little?

Good eyes!!

The tabling acro that was WYSIWYG is supposed to be light brown and is definitely bleaching. Also the digitate has lost some of its color (it appears more stressed).

The good news is that both were ordered from LiveAquaria and pictures were sent (although not needed) on both Friday and Monday. I will give it the week to see how it does, if not, I will receive credit - no questions asked.

Everything else seems to be doing splendidly.
