A sad day for reefkeeping...

I'm sorry to say but my long time friend and coral pioneer Greg Schiemer lost his battle with cancer this morning at the age of 48.
Greg spoke at LIRA on several occasions and for those of you who knew Greg, you'll recognize what a loss this is.

For those of you who didn't know him, but maintain reef tanks today, in a way you do know him because a lot of his work and love for the hobby is the reason we are so successful today with reef keeping.

My tank at Atlantis is as nice as it is because of my friendship with Greg.

More details regarding the wake and services can be found at:

There is a guest book there as well, so even if you didn't know Greg but have a reef tank, it would be nice to drop his family a note.

Wow. I don't know what to say. Greg always went out of his way to answer questions and give me advice. I know he did the same for many others as well. My deepest condolences go out to his loved ones. He will be missed greatly. :(

:( This is sad news indeed. My sincerest condolences to his family.

For those that didn't notice, or realize, the guest book is on the website that Joe posted.

This is terrible.

Greg was always a regular face at the old BAS meetings and I remember all of his incredible knowledge and his generosity with the club.

May he rest in peace.
