A Smart? Aquarium in Taiwan...

Very nice Video. Impressive setup.

My favorite part is the Light going up and down.

Seeing all the drops going into your tank shows, You have mastered dosing proper quantities/mixes of additives since your Corals show amazing results. Something I may try again someday in the distant future, however with my new tank I'm going to try no additives for a while (Just because it always messed me up being too eager to improve things).

What is the function of the weight sensor?

I use both Apex and GHL with a total 12 heads. I also enjoy 2.1 GHL but their cloud “myghl” prrformance is poor when compare to Apex Fusion. Regarding PacificSun, looks good, but their Bluetooth connection on their light shock me on compability. I heard they equipped WiFi now? Then could be a good move.

Note: I will have my next video talk about Apex and GHL dosers.

Interesting point about wireless control.
I have just one experience on a Wireless pump controller (wifi). I am not happy with wireless in general. Not reliable. For sensitive, critical system control I personally like Hard Wired for Performance and reliability.

Also same with software to control automation. I like Personal Computer, or at least WEB based designs (like Apex Fusion), since I don't want to have to find my Android phone, or tablet to do things. If phone battery is dead, I lose access.
It is convenient, but should not be the only access method.

Thanks.

The weight sensor equipped with WiFi so it will not only detect an empty feeder and via MQTT to send a text message to my iPhone. It was a special request from me to my genius friends. haha!!

Do you notice a difference with higher no3 in your corals?

Good question and that is why I took a video so I can compare it more open minded later.

From what I can tell, coral is still healthy as on ULNS it was with good PE, but some coral skin and tentacle become darker color. My SSC (strawberry shortcake) Acropora lost its bright pink and green color, and become dark red as an example.

Shih, your tank is looking absolutely amazing!
What about growth? Has the raised n increased growth rates?
It looks like your tank has exploded with growth in the past little while.

Thanks. The color is not exactly I looking for but happy coral are healthy.
Grow is fanstatic and have to trim from time to time, but I can't real tell if high NO3 help grow. Maybe a little be, I guess.

Any updates Shih?

Thank you for asking. Not a lot of change (or say, no coral collection happen since last update), but it did have something interested. Tank was hit by variety of algae problem again, so I ran another 4 days light off process (see picture below) in early June, and then after light off, all algae problems went away and coral seems ok. My green staghorn colony seems bigger and others grow well in size. However, my nutrition spike did change coral color to darker which I am still working on it.

Thank you for the update Shih. Your problem seems like no problem at all because from photo tank still looks great.

What do you intend to do to bring the nutrient down? Also what could have caused the the variety of algae to appear?

I remember you had aefw problem before. How did you manage that? Are you still dosing kz fws and cb ?

I currently managing aefw issue. Dipped affected colonies and frag in bayer solution. As for the tank I am dosing fws more than usual for my tank. A bit of overdose you can call it. I am doing it daily and might continue for few months. Corals are a little pale with daily fws and cb.

I don't think I have been encountered serious AEFW issue but did have red bugs issue in 2016. AFEW is much tough problem compare to red bugs, once it booming. However, if just a few coral colonies got AEFW, I heard KZ FWS with six-line can help get back to control by FWS treatment with a small pump blow AFEW out from coral, and six-line clean it up.

Hi Shi,
What kind of algae were you fighting against?
Regards,
Alex.

I had similar Algae Problem few years ago.

First came Cyano, then GHA.

You probably remember this photo of my tank.

It was caused by too much additive (aminos), and Coral Feeding.
At first that made corals color up so much better, I did more. Big mistake.

But the key ingredient was (too much Red light).

What I learned it Rocks act like buffer for the Nutrients. When you stop feeding too much, the rocks release the nutrients and Algae Continues to grow until all nutrients leach out.
Took a long time.
