A Smart? Aquarium in Taiwan...

Always good to have friends smarter than yourself and help to enhance your tank :)

Advance Apex AFS
Red Dragon edition

Well, now we are in need of a video of how that is working?
Weight calculated feeding?
That sounds like the new "Food Guardian"

That's an impressive film you created. It looks like the work of a professional!

Lots of hand shake in video. Well, still waiting for my DJI OSMO Mobile 2 stabilizer. Haha

Nice would love to get one.
Can your friend make one for me pls.

Haha... My friends are not only smarter than but, but richer than me. They just did one for me for fun. I am not sure they can easy be motivated to make another one ;-)

Yes, it will push total weight reading via MQTT protocol to my iPhone, and since it has all readings in real time, it will trigger a text message to my iPhone if detect food has less than 10%. I love it and hope Apex can make a commercial one.

BTW, the most challenge part is, since I insisted to put it on top of my ATI light system (see original picture), the heat cause deformation on weight sensor surprise us, and then a lot of temperature related calibration and material engineering apply in this device's development.

No worries thanks for the reply.

Hi Shih, I had a very similar idea for sump set up. Do you see any benefit having the refugium section pouring directly in to return? I wasnt going to have refugium just my matrix etc and was going to have it pumped from return and pouring in to the skimmer section to control the flow. What do you think?

THanks

That is a very good question and I hope my reply below help.....

From my view, as long as a design can make "œslow currents" in refugium section, and with good filter to avoid crab, snail, pistol shrimp, etc"¦ via return pump to main tank, then the refugium is good enough to serve its main goal. Note you do need cods, pods via refugium pouring back to main tank, so your Mandarin goby can survive there.

So what else having a refugium section pouring directly in to return behind main pump section as I did in my sump design?
Beyond above "œslow currents", "œfilter" features that a refugium must-have, this design I can turn off pouring valve, create an isolate section for water change. This way, tank owner do not have to turn off main pump when running water change, and I think it benefit a lot for new temperature control and other perspectives.

The other minor benefit is since refugium which you need light, is far away from skimmer section, skimmer will have less chance to grow algae, but of course there are other ways to avoid light hit directly to skimmer section.

I just spent the better part of the last 3 days reading through your thread. Fantastic tank! What a terrific design, and truly beautiful results!

Awesome thank you for your reply!

Shih87,

Very nice tank. What doser are you using now. I bought the Apex but it has a lot of problems. The new GHL without the screen looks nice but I'm also considering the Pacificsuns. Thanks.

Those are some very impressive videos, well done! And of course your tank is looking beautiful as always.

Thanks. One of the reasons that I start putting many video clips is I am planing relayout the tank, or re-aquascaping. Next one to introduce my tank automation and control is coming soon.

Cheers,

I use both Apex and GHL with a total 12 heads. I also enjoy 2.1 GHL but their cloud “myghl” prrformance is poor when compare to Apex Fusion. Regarding PacificSun, looks good, but their Bluetooth connection on their light shock me on compability. I heard they equipped WiFi now? Then could be a good move.

Note: I will have my next video talk about Apex and GHL dosers.
