I picked up this gal yeaterday. I was told she was a leather but aren't leathers another name for Sebae's and the tentacles aren't like any sebae I've ever seen. She's kind of a plain color (but I fell in love) and was hosting baby occy's in the store.
I'm so sorry, my lights are really blue and I'm not a good enough photographer to compensate. This is the best I can do .... IRL she's more of a dull brown color with light gray in her tentacles.
Sorry guys..one final picture for ID that I forgot I had (took this in the LFS). I just want to make sure I'm caring for this little beauty the way it wants Thanks everyone.
Thank you so much, yes it's settling in nicely. Those first pics were taken just a few hours after getting her in my tank and the last one in the basket - she'd been disturbed from her cozy corner because they were holding her for me until later that day.
How often should I feed her and what's the best food? I try SO hard to research BEFORE buying anything but this was a total 100% spur of the moment stupidness on my part. There's nothing worse than buy first, learn later....and I'm totally guilty of doing that in this case :deadhorse1: I sure don't want my mistake to become hers.
wait until it completely healthy then you can feed him. He needs bright light and not a lot of current. He need to settle into the sand bed. I would not recommend feeding for the first week. After that if he is healthy you can feed him eraser size piece of shrimp or fish. Start with just one. Eventually you can feed him every 3rd days. Remember that anemone are mostly water. They look huger but the total amount of tissue is small. Reefer always over feed anemone. This will make them sick. Feeding them when they are sick or stress will make them sicker.
Good luck. Picture please.
I'm 90% percent certain that is H. aurora. H. malu will show slight slight rings around the tentacles but doesn't exhibit the bulbous protrusions that H. aurora is known for.
