Any mods for the 9010?

Has anybody modded their Tunze skimmers to increase performance? I have a 9010 on a moderatly stocked 220 gallon reef and I pull around 100-150 ml a day with the air crew wide open. It sits in my sump in 7.5" of water (constant).I do have a large refuge.

I wonder if I just add a ballvalve onto the riser tube and create some back pressure if that would allow m to skim wetter. My skimmate is very dark black now.
