any orange acropora? Sps

Reef Raft Canada has an Orange SPS - the polyps are bright orange. I think its called the Orange Passion or something. I've been trying to get a frag forever.

the orange passion polyps are bright orange only under actinics.. more like a yellowish-gold color under daylights. The forest fire digi is a really bright one and one of my favorites.
I wonder if reefer831's BA mille held its orange. I have never been able to keep the colors I see on mille straight outta the ocean.

lol

lol

There are a few "orange" millis coming in on mari plugs I haven't had luck getting them to hold that colour. The nicest one I saw got lost in transit :(, but I have another one showing up today. There are a few acroporas that have orange highlights like av99 orange crush but It's mostly green. (although very nice). Outside of that you need to look at montis for orange or have a really nice pair of SPS goggles. It wasn't until I started reefing that I realized there were so many shades of brown ;)

yeah many shades of brown is right ,,as for monti and digi's yeah seen those have 2 but like you said need the goggles to see the monti's..want to see acropora or millepora in a nice orange seems no one has one..or do they?
and by acro i would mean bony structure acro and millepora's coralites are quiet different and some hairy now that in orange would rock.

Just frag a sunset to an dead acro skeleton, I will have a Superman done this way in a year or so. Orange and Yellow are difficult colors to get, especially if you have bluer lighting. Personally I'd rather have a setosa, they are hard to beat IMO.

Soy, I have the reef raft orange passion that I bought from RR my self. I is true that it looks yellow under day light. But after about 2 months it looks orange in any light. It is an awesome coral. I paided 75 Canadian dollars for about a 1/2" piece. It grows really fast to. And I have guys waiting for frags from it.

This is my sunset milli. It's "orangish-brownish", but for reference below the the sunset monti. no denying that has an orange base

This montipora turgescens is a straight bright orange............the brightest straight orange SPS I've ever seen.

Some mentioned the setosa, but that is more of a red/orange to me when I've seen it in person vs the orange turgescens.

I bought this from Reefermadness back in the day, but I don't think it's rare.

The pic doesn't show how bright it actually is...........I can take a current one if someone really cares to see one.

As far as orange acros.........I'd have to see one in person to believe it & it will never be as orange as the turgescens.

I have a millie frag that looks burned orange in my tank, but when I take a top down shot with the camera it looked yellow with red polyps.

Here is the acro I was refering to from my post above. It took 11 weeks to color up to this.

Here is my buddy's spathulata....its orangey pink(not a true orange). I have a frag but its is a terribly slow grower....

My sunset mille's body color is pretty orange.....again maybe not true orange but it really is hard to find in an acro.

that spathulata is killer! I have a light red-ish with green tint spathulata, agree, very slow grower. I almost though I lost it when i had issue with low ALK a couple months ago, but it seems to be recovering.

ill take both!...man that first one is amazing... and that sunset looks really nice ive been looking for a frag of it forever but everytime i go to someone house to get one they have red bugs.

This is Atlantis' Halloween Milli, it has been around for quite a few years. I lost my original colony in 2 years ago and this is a new frag.

It has always kept a nice orange color for me.

When I say ba I mean bad azz!

Yes the BA does stand for bad azz..... I am the one who named it, but I never gave any frags to a single person yet, so I dont think they can be the same coral. Go ahead and Google BA mille and you can figure it all out for yourself...here is a top down of it, under t5's.

The pic I posted was after about 3 months of being in the tank, and it is still holding it's color almost 6 months later....but just like any other SPS tank, all my acros have there days where they look insane and there are days when I am just banging my head against the tank trying to figure out what is up....I have a few other similar types of sunset mille's that I bought that didn't hold there color and changed completely. I think these type of mille's are just a hard acro to to make happy and color up, but when they do they look amazing but when there not happy they just look brown. The forest fire is the same way...not many people can get both the green and the orange out of the forest fire but when they do it's an aromatic favorite, but those who cant get it to color up hate it...the thing that is different about my BA mille is the polyps dont hide the crazy orange base.
