Hi. my Red Dragon 3 50watt pump just died today.

Been running smooth forever. Today, had a power outage at home. Then the pump would not start after. Nothing is showing on the controller.

I tried soaking it in vinegar. Nothing is blocking the propeller.

so who can I contact for repair?

Ok thanks. I contacter scott.

Guess im switching to Jebao for now lol. Cant beat these 99$ pumps

Is it plugged into an Apex?
Mine will not restart if I plug it into the Apex?? So I plug it into a separate wall plug and it starts right away. Don't know why that happens and I found out the same way after a power outage. For some reason the controller does not like the power being pulled off. Slief said that it's like any computer that doesn't take kindly to having the power being turned off.

no they are directly plugged into the wall. I tried with extension cord and without...

Any Red Dragon pump customer service in LA?

any fuses that can be replaced on the controller?

I don't think so but their customer service is reportedly excellent so I'm sure they will take care of him. Would love to hear how they helped him.

I have a similar issue , except mine is the skimmer pump for alpha vertex 200 but it still makes noice like it cranking to start while It still push out some water in the skimmer chamber but no bubbles.

I was offered 20% off on a replacement controller. $270 total. It will be shipped out tomorrow in exchange for my broken controller.

Like that huh? For a 50w pump? You might be able to get a Reef Octopus Varios 4 or the Sicce SDC for that! And have a warranty.

20% off for a common issue... I wouldn't consider that great customer service LOL. I'm praying my wife is home next time we have a power outage. Thanks for the headsup last time. I had forgotten PCIscott had the same issues with his.

Like any computer not appreciating having the power go off? I dunno, thats happened to my office many many times and they all still work. As does all of my other aquarium equipment that employ controllers when the power goes out.

Dang really? Especially with all the outages going on right now.

Good thing I'll have battery backups for my house soon. Otherwise I would've contemplated replacing the RD3 for an Abyzz.

But RD3 is working well so far. Powerful and quiet.

I love the pump as well, its great. But this is a known issue and a shame that they only offer 20% off of a new controller that hasn't been updated in what 10 years plus? You could build a stone wall with them they are so big , ugly and bulky.

Yeah that's the one thing that bugs me about the pump is the controller box. I have the skimmer too so that's 2 bulky black boxes..

You mean you did not sense the sarcasm in my statement?
