any pics, info, or issues with running the rf bulbs on 175 IC ballasts?

i have xm 10k bulbs, need to change out bulbs but i want this look, wondering if the 175 watt bulb on the 175 w Ice Cap ballast has any difference.

Also gotta say thats THE lighting i WANT!

Has anyone ran the Reeflux 10k or 12k with an Aquamedic Oceanlight? i have just purchased one and need to replace the lamps, as they have milage. This fixture has the (2) 250w DE MH w/ (2) T-5 actinics. I will be using the original ballast from AB. Does anyone have any experience with this set up and lamps? I am interested in keeping a mixed SPS/ LPS and clams in a 90 gal system. Thanks!

I have been using 2 250w SE 12k bulbs for about 8 months now. I really like them and I will continue to use them.. the LPS love it, and SPS and acros are growing fast...I use actitics along with them...I really did not want a bright white bulb since my 90G tank is in my living room.

I was just at the LFS and 2 guys talked me out of the Reeflux 12K They said it was yellow? I have not seen on here where its yeloow any opinions?

I will not be using supplements.

SO i was getting Reeflux 12K

or
Radium 20K

I think the radium and the reeflux bulbs are both awesome. The 12k reeflux are far from yellow, look at the picks in the pages before this. They will be more yellow on magnetic ballasts then on electronics most likely though.

yeah, i would be using PFO magnetic 250W

I also have a 250W PFO HQI ballast but dont wanna use it cause i dont wanna change bulbs every 6 months

Looking at running 250w SE 10K Reeflux on electronic ballasts..(no supplements) - anyone doing this and are you happy with it?

I am running the 12ks without supplemental lighting love the color. Acropora nut runs the 12ks also and he gets awsome growth. He use to run 10ks but he states he gets both great growth and color out of the 12k and it is why he switched.

thanks..that's because he's running 400w - there is not much PAR difference between the 12k and 10k in 400w....that is not the case with 250w...the 12k has a very low par where the 10k is higher.

I did for a while and they were bright white without even a hint of blue. I'm not one who likes blue tanks but without actinics most colors will look washed out IMO.

Here is another updated pic of the RF10K with white coated ends and a brand new RF10K with the clear ends. It was taken last night. All pics with IC 250 watt ballast and 250w 10K bulbs and 2 VHO actinics. SE Bulbs..
White end being the one on the left and new run clear end bulb on the right
The white coated ends are an old run of bulbs that they no longer produce and it did produce a pink appearance.
We had a production run where we added an aluminum oxide coating to the arc tubes. Some people reported that it gave a pink look to the light with this white coating. We have since stopped using it and only have clear arc tubes on the market. I hope you will give these unique bulbs a chance.
That's a reply I got from coralvue back in Oct of '06. No one should be selling those bulbs anymore. Also make sure the nipple on the inner bulb is pointing in a 10 oclock to 3 oclock position. Hard to believe but it changes the color output significantly in some instances. Hope that helps.

I figure I should post in here at some point.

I had 3 Reeflux 12k DE 250 watters.

I used them for 14 months.

Worst bulbs I have had to date. They lost well over half there par in that time, and did look a little yellow.

I do not have a par meter, but as reference:

2 Ushio 10K, after 2 years of use look bluer and much much brighter.
2 Hamilton 14K after 28 months (yes over 2 years) are bluer and brighter.
1 Geissman 13.5K after 2 years is bluer and brighter.
3 Phoenix 14K are much bluer and you guessed it brighter after 18 months.
1 AB 10k is bluer and brighter.

All the Reeflux 12k always started, and were run off of 2 icecap electronic and a bluewave magnetic ballast, as were the rest of the bulbs.

I have yet to see a bulb lose that much visible strength, no matter how old it is. My T5s were brighter!

im hearing that people only get 6 months out of these bulbs (using electronic ballast)..anyone care to comment?
