Does anyone have any info on how the 12K 400w bulb looks when fired with an m135 ballast?

Anybody know? I though maybe it got lost on the past pages. Or does it need a HQI ballast similar to radiums?
Thanks

mr pluto,
Ye it shows a 250watt bulb but was given as reference to the bulbs with the white ends....

I have a HQI ballast, 250W DE. Was thinking of getting the Phoenix 14K cause i like some blue and it has a par of 88.

Any idea of what the par is on the Reeflux 12k? Will these stay pretty blue with HQI and DE?

Thanks,

Davey

Nanook, why would you move a thread with 38 pages, it took me forever to find it

That's why you hit the little button at the bottom of the thread that says "subscribe". Then you never lose it.

Coralvure Reeflux 10K out of Blue Box and they put off a pink tint. They had the white ends. The newer release ones do not have the white ends that they just started putting out. Info was posted at reefexotics website just recently as to the ends on the new ones.
I posted this email from coralvue earlier in this thread it explains the difference. They quit making the coated bulbs quite a while ago but some places may still have some in stock.

We had a production run where we added an aluminum oxide coating to the arc tubes. Some people reported that it gave a pink look to the light with this white coating. We have since stopped using it and only have clear arc tubes on the market. I hope you will give these unique bulbs a chance.
Thanks

David

I recieved this email on 10/4/06 from David at coralvue. Any place that sells a large amount of bulbs should have the clear arc tubes only by now.

Just wanted to revisit this thread with an observation. I just switched from DE 10k Reeflux to SE 10k Reeflux and so far the coloration is much much better. Only time will tell if there will be a color shift to pink, but so far i am very very happy with the change!

Here is another updated pic of the RF10K with white coated ends and a brand new RF10K with the clear ends. It was taken last night. All pics with IC 250 watt ballast and 250w 10K bulbs and 2 VHO actinics. SE Bulbs..
White end being the one on the left and new run clear end bulb on the right

Here is another pic I posted with the RF10k with white ends and a New 10K XM bulb on same ballasts. Looks like I`m taking out the new XM bulbs and going back to the new RF bulbs as the color is white with a hint of blue with less yellow as the XM bulbs put out. I thought maybe the XM would be the new bulb but like the new RF bulbs output.

benf,
I like it better also. Have used CV bulbs since day one and then 2 sets of RF bulbs. After putting the XM bulb in another tank on other wall it really showed the pink of the RF bulbs with white ends. I ordered XMs to replace them last month but it looked yellow in appearance but had good par. Found a great deal on some new production clear end RF bulbs and decided to try them again. After putting one in I decided to switch back to the new RF bulbs. They do have the white with a hint of blue with no yellow appearance although the PAR is lower than the XM

Hi Mike! :)

I just received two new (clear end) reeflux 10k SE 250 bulbs this week. Today I am taking comparison pics between them and my XM 10k SE 250. I know the RF have not burned in yet, but so far I see no hint of pink and like them better than the xm's. The colors of the corals seem to pop better with less 'washing out'. They are running on icecap elect ballast w/spider reflectors.

I'll have to wait for the final decision until the RF burn in...

Note: XM bulbs are 4 mo old; Reeflux are brand new

Pics show comparison between XM 10k 250 watt se bulbs and Reeflux 10k 250 watt se bulbs. Actinic supplementation using dual 48" T5 actinics with individual reflectors; all lights are powered by ICEcap electronic ballast.

ATM, I like the Reeflux much better than the XM but I'll see how much they shift once they burn in 100 hrs.
The Reeflux are a bit bluer but still very bright. The colors of the corals look much better and are not washed out like with the XM.
