From what I'm reading alot depends on the ballast you are using. My 250W 10K XM's on my magnetic ballast are not yellow but bright white. My brother has the IC electronic ballast with the XM's and they look slightly yellow. The XM's get more par on the magnetic ballast 600 instead of 530 on the IC.

From what I've read here the opposite can be said about the RF 10K. They look great on the IC electronic ballast but look yellow on the magnetic ballast.

Here is Joe's site with test that were done on the 250W bulbs on different ballast.

I have to replace my XM's and I'm still debating which bulb to go with?

I run RF 10ks on magnetics and they are not yellow at all. They are a nice crisp white with a hint of blue. With a couple of actinics, the corals look awesome. I bought one IC ballast to see if I like the RFs better on them instead. When I get my 90 set back up, I will get pics of IC on one side and magnetic on the other.

My favorite bulb so far and i hope growth is good as well. I've never seen my corals look so good compared to all the ligthing types and bulbs I've tried. I'm running three 250W Icecap with lumenarcs. BTW, how often do you guys change your bulbs?

Thanks eckrynock :)
I'm hoping to see if others will chime in with the same result as yours.

gabe3d, I change mine every year.

Are you referring to the reeflux bulbs or the xm10ks you are running? I'm trying to see if i can save some money on bulb replacement because i have to change out my Hamiltons 14k every 7-8 months.

I talking about my XM 10K's.

Im going on 15 months at 7 hrs per day. There is still no black in the inner envolope, like my hamiltons used to do. I run them on IC ballast.

I tried the reeflux 10k de lamps on a coralvue electronic 250w ballast and found the colour to be way to pink for my liking. I switched to 12k and this was much better. It may be too blue for those of you who already run supplementry blue lightiing. There is deffo something a little odd with the reeflux bulbs as some find the 10k a very crisp white light. I think the SE bulbs may be a little more consistent in terms of colour

Thanks! I just got 10K SE and RF electronic ballast, so I hope it works well. Now I just need a good reflector.....

That was alot of info. I planned on going with the 12K anyways. so should have no pink issues.

I have a PFO magnetic ballast and also a PFO HQI ballast, they are both 250W.

Should i run them on the magnetic so they dont get over driven?

My 2nd choice would be to get the Radium 20K and run on the HQI
