anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

tunicata, did you get this from fish-street.com? If you did open a support request with them and let them know that the power cord doesn't work and you are using one of your own and they will refund $5. At least that's the amount the sent me back.

If you didn't get it from FS, then let your seller know the same and they should give you some refund too.

FS said that the power cord is a know issue and the manufacturer will be taking care of it.

If anyone still have the noise issue, then try repositioning the pump.

Mine is quiet. Tonight, I put it in another area in my tank, then the noise started again (vibration?). Then took the pump out of the socket and put it in another position. Still had the noise. Then I took the pump out of the socket and put it in another position again. No more noise.

Just try rotating the socket or the pump. Take it out and in a few times. I'm thinking it just needs to sit in its sweet spot.

I have a 300 gal with a footprint of 5'x4' and I agree with you. 2 don't move as much water as I thought they would based on the responses in this thread.

I do get a good wide flow but I found the Sicce Voyager 4000 I have has more "oomph". Where I thougt the WP40's might replace my Sicce's I now think they will make good supplements.

I couldn't get a 1" wave until I moved the pump just a few inches from the top of the water which doesn't work for me for long term placement. I think the volume and/or footprint of the tanks may be influencing the results some are seeing. Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is in any way the pump's fault but the fault of my expectations. I suspect I would have been equally underwhelmed with an MP40.

So, LARGE tank owners should take this into consideration. 1 or 2 of these pumps ain't gonna do it for us. Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase especially considering the price. I would recommend this pump and may buy more.

2 WP40 for a 300G is expecting too much IMO. I have a 300G & 5 WP40's & so far I Love it.
I replaced 4 X MP40 & 1 X Tunze 6205 with 5 X WP40. I could have gotten away with 4, but just added another 1.

The reply I got basically blew me off.

Then a friend of mine called and talked to them about a buying pumps in big numbers for resale here in the US. He asked about factory support and they basically said once the distributor buys the product, Jebao washes their hands of it. It's up to the distributor to decide if they want to make things right for the end user. Jebao doesn't care about you. All they care about is getting the product out the door. If you can find a quality distributor that will back up the product you will be much better off, but I seriously doubt that Fish Street is that distributor.

My advise: buy pumps from Jebao at your own risk. If they work for you, it's a good deal. If you get a bad pump, you can consider it a supply of spare parts and buy another one or just accept the loss. Buying Jebao products is like gambling in Vegas, you put down your money and you take your chances. It's a fairly good product and an awful company as best as I can tell. Maybe that's why Tunze and Eco Tech charge so much... customer service. I'd rather pay $149 for a pump that had power/flow control and customer service than gamble on an $85 pump that has no company behind it. Jebao gives Chinese manufacturers a bad reputation. If anybody EVER gets a quality reply from Jebao, PLEASE share it here!

I've spoken with someone over at jebao. I help out with a local fish store and the owner is German, doesn't speak so good english.. Anyways, over at Jebao they speak good english, I was told they have a 1 year warranty.. I would bet that their warranty process works like many other companies - they don't want to deal with the end user because it takes too much time and cost dealing with individual RMA's. What they want to do is get a box periodically with a bunch of RMA stuff and replace it to the dealer/wholesaler. It costs real money to have staff unbox junk and test dozens or hundreds of boxes, and send out new. It also adds a line of "defense" against getting working product returned as defective for no reason, which is a HUGE problem for retailers here.

Jebao works like many other chinese manufacturers, in that they don't stock anything. When you order, that's when they make your stuff. They do sell replacement parts (which my friend will be stocking).

Anyways, the pump has built in flow control, you just need to add a $2 potentiometer to "unlock" it. something like a 10k pot, with the middle lead going to the "VA" input on the pump, one side of the pot to ground and the other to the VA output from the controller chip. :deadhorse1:

To all,

I sorry if I came off too hard on Jebao. But several of us here have tried to deal with them and they have basically blown us all off. I understand the dealing thru the distributor thing. I sold for 3M Co for 20 years and we went from 100% direct (computer tape and disk packs) to 98% thru distribution (floppy disks and data cartridges). But this is a new product for them and I'd like to think they care about early adopter customers and any unknown problems... obviously I'm wrong.

The other side of it was when my friend went to them to buy in volume for his company, they basically told him, you take care of the end user at your expense. I don't think Jebao wants to see any of these come back and they aren't going to go out of their way to do anything for the distributors either. I guess we'll see eventually.

I think the WP40 is a pretty darn good pump. And compared to what you'd pay for a Tunze ($335) the WP40 is a great deal. My issue with the light sensor is small, but others have it too. And I thought that Jebao might want to know about it. Just like EverGrow, who's first run of led fixtures with timer/controllers that ran 5 minutes fast every hour! EverGrow didn't know, they found out and made it right with everybody. I realize an $85 powerhead is a very different thing than a $275 led light... but not that different. And yet EverGrow deals with every end user and takes care of every little problem they are made aware of. My 400nm UV leds burned out. I tell them and they let me know it will happen over and over until Bridgelux can make a better 400nm UV led. But in the mean time, here's a handful of UV bulbs and four 440nm blue leds. The blues will solve the problem, or use the UV bulbs and you have enough spares to last you for a couple of years! Now that's customer service!

Ron its not a 85$ pump other than that I agree. I have sent a half dozen emails. 1 reply and all they asked was where I got my products from. No how we can deal with warranty issues or even orders. Fish street is much better. Granted how can they deal with warranty when they probably get the same response. Now with this being said I love my pumps. They work great. I had one that didnt sit right until I adjusted it over and over. I wanted it replaced and it was like the army. You need to talk to personnel, personnel says talk to supply, supply says talk to personnel. I swear these guys laugh at our frustration.

I got some questions about the issues. Has there been any issues with the actual pump? Like if i tossed the controller, power supply, sensor etc, would there be any issues left? From the stuff ive skimmed through so far it seems that there wouldn't be any issues at that point. Other than customer service that is... But i don't care about service if i were to hack a pump apart so it ran the way i wanted it to. Just need the pump itself to work.

Just and FYI this pump can be found for even less than $85. Yes shipped to the US.

Ive run 3 and had no issues. That's with either the stock controller, the sensor, or running them on solely on my reefangel.

Seedlessone, enlighten us please. The only option ever known to anyone to be cheaper than fish-street was an Ali expresss. Which the item has now been removed. I hope those people who paid for a .2kg pump don't get ripped off. There is group buys but that is not an option for a lot of people. For the average person, who only orders one the pump is 111 US or more.

I run two of these. I have one I spent 30 minutes tweaking to get to work. When I plugged it in it didnt work. Took it out of the c housing and it worked. From there proceed to try to find the magic spot to get it to work. Did a video, simple logical write up on my issues to them and didnt get any help. It's not a dud but it did not work 100% like the other unit. I am not the only to have this issue but I don't blame you for re reading the whole thead.

I love these pumps and will move on from the issues with the maker. I will still recommend them and ask people on the fence to watch these in action on you tube. There are some amazing videos of these on there, how they work, best ways to use, different modes in action, and even how to slow for smaller tanks.

If you are going to hack into one of these, the pump itself seems to be quite good. I've been running mine on a variable output power supply (at 15v for a week and 18v for the last 3 weeks) and it still working like new (even quieter than new). However, Jebao did say that running the pump on at less than 24v will damage the pump in the long run. A) I don't know that I believe much of what Jebao says. B) I'm not sure they even know what they are talking about. They are pretty much just a small factory that assembles pumps from parts that other people make. Some is proprietary to Jebao and some is openly availible to other Chinese factories.

I'm happy with my pump. And if the WP25 is physically smaller than the WP40, I'll probably buy 5 or 6 for my 4 tanks. I know the 'data sheet' that has been posted shows the WP40 and WP25 are the same size... but don't believe everything you read on the internet. I have reason to believe it will be smaller and that the data sheet was either an accidental (or maybe deliberate) mistake. We'll see when they come out in... ? May?

Did anyone notice their pump resets itself to H mode even though you have set the pump in other modes

I have two WP40s in my 92 gal corner tank. One is in ELSE mode running at 18V and the other in W1 mode running at 16V. Both are controlled by my RKE to run for 60 sec and off 10 sec. Both pumps are shut down at night.

The one running at W1 mode stays in W1 all the times despites the on and off cycle and off during the night. However, the pump that runs in ELSE mode would reset to H mode periodically. Anyone has similar experience?

Nope, I have mine setup in Else mode & it shuts down at night via my RKL as well. no issues in 2+ weeks

moatdaddy the pump is still on Ali Expres, but it is $90 + $58.33 shipping totaling $148.33. Fish-Street still seems to be the lowest cost, shipping included. EBAY has it for $119 Free shipping.

What's the longest somebody has been running these pumps? When I started this hobby I went cheap and had Jebao pumps for my skimmer, circulation and return after a year or so they started leaking voltage in the tank giving me issues with fish and corals; at some point I got one of the nastiest shocks I have ever experienced and finally got rid of all the cheap equipment.

I know this has not been an issue with these ones and hopefully quality has improved, but I would advice anyone using these pumps to periodically test for stray voltage and to run ground probes and use GFCI receptacles (well anyone running a fish tank even with high quality equipment should do so anyways.)

Not sure about that, but from what I can see according to this thread it looks like around February.

Has anyone had issues with stray voltage?

I have stray voltage from my QuiteOne 3000 pump (about 6V).

When I went to make sure that was the cause of the voltage this weekend,I unplugged the QuiteOne and still had stray voltage (about 11V).

I didn't have time to isolate anything else, but I think the Jebao may be contributing.

Pretty sure that was Jebo no Jeabo

Oh yeah, I forgot your where my roommate and paid for my pumps :lolspin:

How are you pretty sure? LOL

Ps. I also have had jebo, sunsun, and oddysea products.

I also want to reiterate that I'm not sure if these pumps will cause those issues, and I want to check with people that have them since the functionality and price are tempting for certain applications.
