anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

so any tech ppl know what ohm resister that could be put in place of the optical eye ??

What are you trying to do?

So I emailed FS today about WP-40 it came with a UK power cord not a US power cord and they emailed me back ask if i can take a photo of the power cord I side sure and send them some photos.I get a phone call from Eric Wong head of FS and he apologize about the power cord and side they will mail me out a new power cord and some light sensor and if I need any help or if anything go wrong with the pump that will replace it and he gave me his phone number and email address. So if any want Eric Wong email address pm me

This is the first I've heard of that. I can say that he was pretty rude with me during my support request, but hopefully they have got some of the feedback that has been going thru here and they are trying to change the reputation.

Over $200 for a piece of non-essential equipment is expensive in my book. I'm only 25 and have a ton of student loans. My build is very budget constrained. I'd rather put that $200 into some new coral frags. My tank is so bare right now. I haven't been able to restock since my sand bed caused a soft crash.

One day you'll change your tune. What I once thought was expensive in this hobby ($200), is no longer expensive in my eyes (in this hobby). Not that I have more money, just realize what this hobby really costs.

have any one tried to run 2x WP40 in a 4x2x2 ft tank ?

what mode to use ?

If I ever get my 2nd unit I will. I plan to run them in else mode, well, technically I am going to run a 'reef crest' mode set to a given max intensity.

Point is, I've been doing this for 4 years without a controller. I'm not averse to expensive equipment when I see how it will clearly help. I had an mp40 after all. I also had an ati sunpower. I just don't see a controller being necessary for my setup.

There are plenty of people who don't use controllers.
It is all personal preference and how much time you have to dedicate to the tank.
I've seen people on the forums who work out on oil platforms and are not home for extended periods of time. they have other (wives, girlfriends, whatever) take care of the tank for them, but can't ask them to do more then feed it and report any major issues so they use a controller to simplify things.

I myself don't use one right now and I'm still trying to decide if I need one.
Yes $200 - $300 is a lot of money, sure you can spend more on the hobby, but I have a 9 year old son with Cerebral Palsy and is confined to a wheelchair, so every spare cent (which is not much) goes to medical needs and therapy for him.

Realistically I can't afford to be in this hobby, but I do it because in my situation I need something to take my mind off of reality.

I can see your point. I ran a 39 gallon corner tank with softies and LPS in my old office for 10 years without major issues, and hardly supplementing anything.

Once I moved to my new office and had a chance to do things I wanted and set up the tank as an in wall setup, I splurged on an Apex controller. Now that I am working on an SPS dominated display tank running an approximate 200 gallons including the sump and refugium, I have found the controller to be extremely helpful with controlling all my lights, pH, pumps, etc. and sending me notifications when parameters are off and it also helps with some amount of adjusting stuff.

As a result, I am not as physically tied to my tank like I used to be, with less maintenance, and I finally took my first 2 week vacation last December. First vacation in 10 years that was longer than 3 days, LOL. Having the controller lets me log on and check things as neccessary with the Apex Dashboard.

So IMHO, is it neccessary, NO, but it is a nice luxury that allows on to have another life, I guess!

Cheers & Happy Reefing!

Your not the only one in the same boat. My situation is different but still takes my mind of off reality. :) Just waiting on the 25 to come out.

Well, if you don't want to use a controller, you don't have to justify it to anyone. If you're are getting along fine without one, more power to you. I work in IT, so I typically try to leverage technology any way I can. I use controllers, most in part because I like building things, and I have microcontrollers laying around everywhere. My current controller doesn't do anything but control my LEDs. That will change when I remodel my reef room though.

Good new Apex users!

I was able to successfully ditch the Jebao controller and completely control my wp40 with the RA Jebao connection cable to my Apex. All I had to do was remove the RA connector and rewire it for a ethernet (RJ45 connector). Very simple and now I have complete control! Thanks Roberto for your assistance!

Outstanding work! Thanks for sharing, I will be attempting it in the near future!

I have no doubt it would be a nice gadget to have, and I am certainly not against them. It's just a good way down on my priority list. I'd like some new SPS frags first, then I'd like to upgrade my lighting to one of the reef breeders LED units. Right now I have one of the ebay black box LED's with just the white and blue LED's. It works well, but I'd like a more full spectrum. Then my Mustang needs a new front bumper. Also need a new water heater...after all that, maybe I'll invest in a controller...if I find a good deal on a used one. haha

Oh so a Mustang comes 3rd on the list.
What year is it?

It's an '04 Mach 1. I just put a bunch of money into brakes and suspension work, so it gets bumped back on the list for now.

Cool, although I prefer the older 65/66 mustangs.
The new "muscle cars" look pretty nice.
The Mustangs, Camaro, Charger and Challenger.
I saw a pretty cool after market conversion of a 2013 Camaro to a TransAm.

I like them all, about the only era I don't like for muscle cars is the 80's. Man they made some ugly cars in the 80's.
