anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

Well, the first pump I got on Wednesday has already died. Tried two different power supplies and the same thing happens. The controller powers on, but the pump doesn't.

I have two of these so I tried a different controller too and it doesn't work. Pump is dead :(

yeah! mine arrived in the mail today. I got the included 2page pamphlet of instructions completely in Japanese (I assume...lol). Well, off to the internet for directions.

Just to be clear, I think it's Chinese not Japanese (that's an older prejudice). LOL!

Deal with whoever you bought it from. If they are a good distributor you'll get treated well, if they aren't a good distributor... sorry. Let us know how it goes. Fish Street seems to be doing OK. I still think Jebao doesn't really care. They give the distributors a great deal and expect them to eat whatever the failure rate is. So far it seems pretty low.

My WP40 is still running quiet and my only issue is the light sensor needing a bit of light to hold the night mode. It still seems crazy to me, but at these prices, do I care... do you even need to ask? I want 5 or 6 WP25's and I don't much care about the price! :bounce3: If Eco Tech had been even halfway rational about price rather than gouging they'd have had my business long ago!

These pumps look awesome. A local reefer clued me into them. He has been using them on his tanks around 2 months now. They produce a ton of flow. I am planning to set up an Elos rimless in the early fall...a custom 56g tank as none of their current tank dimensions work in that area. This tank is going along a wall in the bedroom. I was going to do either one MP40 or two MP10s for flow. I also was considering an Apex controller or possibly a RKE. I think now that I'll save my money and buy a WP25 (maybe two if they can be synchronized with a controller). I think I'll use the money I save to buy a Reef Angel controller instead of Apex or RKE. I have no loyalty to controllers. I use a RKL on my 16g nano but am np way a die-hard Digital Aquatics fan. I like the RKL fine but since RA has already done all the work to get these pumps controlled with their controllers, then they can have my business.

I have an MP10 on my 16g nano, and if I was setting up another tank smaller then 20g, I would probably go with the MP10 again. In a small nano, space is at a premium so the motor being outside the tank was a huge selling point for me. Saves quite a bit of room. However, I don't find this really to be much of an issue on larger tanks. I can't see spending an extra $400 just so the powerhead cord isn't inside the tank. I can also attest that Vortech pumps are NOT silent...no where near. I can hear the MP10 clear across the room. It doesn't really bother me but some people have been complaining about the sound of the Jeboa pumps...can't be louder then my MP10 or my friend's MP40. I would also think that with the motor being in the tank, that the water would buffer the sound somewhat. Can't wait to start buying all the odds and ends for my new set-up.

It's on the very first post, and on Fish-Street.com's webpage for the pump, but here it is again.

W2,W3(Reef Stream Mode with Adjsutable): ordinary fixed program made stream made wave mode;
This two modes by means of the knob to change the the fixed program's effect, need to be adjusted according to the creatures in the water

W3(Reef Stream Mode): Indefinite program cause stream made wave mode;
According to the aquatic adjustment knob to change indefinite program effects;

Ok, the words are English but they're arranged in such a pattern as to mean pretty much nothing.:confused: now my head hurts from reading it.

We got it figured out. Something was binding the ceramic shaft and bearings. Took it apart and put it back together and all is well.

If I get the Reef Angel controller since I am also in the market for a controller, should I get the Reef Angel Controller with Analog Dimming Signal. They also have it available with PWM dimming signal but if I got this one I would need to convert it to analog anyway to control the pump, right? So if I just got the one that already has analog then I won't need to covert it? Correct? Or am I totally off-base here? All this electronic stuff is over my head to tell you the truth LOL

Consider yourself lucky! It's in a small jet at 40,000 feet for me. Some day when Jebao or EverGrow or some other Chinese company makes a dirt cheap piece of crud reef controller, I'll probably get one. :lol:

Yeah, I have to save my pennies to buy my aquarium stuff. I like deals just like everyone else. I'll save the money I get ftom buying the Jebao pumps to spend on a controller. Just not completely surw which RA controller I should buy for these pumps. I have a RKL on my nano. That is the limit of my experience with controllers LOL

So these pumps seem to have a ceramic shaft on the impeller and ceramic bearings. I like the way the bearings are set in a grommet that fits into the pump body, it makes them easy to replace, but IDK about ceramic on ceramic. Every shaft/bearing pair I've ever encountered consisted of a hard shaft (like steel) and a soft bearing (like brass or babbit). The fact that some of these pumps quiet down after a couple days indicates something changed besides the noise level. Is it breaking in? Is it wearing out? I wonder if Teflon bearings would greatly extend the life of the impeller. Maybe even extend the life of the impeller indefinitely, with Teflon bearings needing replaced every year or two. I wonder if Teflon bearings would reduce the noise level? I have a block of Teflon but lack precision machinery. I will try to pull off making Teflon bearings with my drill press. Just for anyhow, I am going to measure the shaft with a micrometer. I have no way to measure the bearing other than see what size drill bit will slip in.

You guys who own Tunze- what is the shaft/bearing arrangement in terms of materials, how are the bearings held in place, are the bearings available for replaceablement, any thrust washers used, anything else?

A tad off. Doesn't matter which version you have as the cable will work with analog or pwm. Most get the pwm version I would imagine.
