anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

ANyone have any BAD reviews of these pumps yet? I'm curious as to their reliability.

Of course. I have seen people only get 6 months out of them, but, seems less of the norm. Seems like a 80/20 split (just a guesstimate and could be wrong) where 70 is the happy side.

Yes. There are people that are unhappy with them or have been happy with them, but they only lasted 3 or 4 months, but the 3 of them are few.

For the most part people are happy with them and they are still running.

The major issues (let's say within the 20% that someone mentioned above) are the controller failing, power supply dying and loss of speed. For some cleaning the pump, specially the slime that builds over the magnet fixes the loss of speed.

Agreed. IIRC I can recall 1 where the pump itself died. All the other were like ganjero said controller failing, power supply dying and loss of speed.

Don't know why ppl keep bashing Jebao. Give it a chance. I think the ones that are dissing the manufacturer have ulterior motive. I bet Vortech is hurting bad in the pocket just about now.

How easy is it to get a hold of a replacement controller or power supply if those parts fail out of warranty?

You can get the controller for $13 and impeller for $3 from FS, or any 24V or lower power supply from Amazon or Ebay for less than $15.

Hey all, I purchased a WP-40 from Fish-Street back in august, Eric resolved a slowing down issue I was having with the pump and now I'm getting ready to place another order from them. Great customer service and fast shipping.

Yes, please let us know how it was resolved, because that seems to be the biggest complaint form people who have been using them for a while.

Slime buildup on the intake slits usually seems to be the culprit with these and other prop pumps. My Koralia's even need cleaned in a vinegar bath every couple months or they even have a drastic drop in flow.

The jeboa pump intake strainer slits are more narrow than most comparable pumps so it seems they clog easier.

I've read people suggesting the idea of removing a few bands of plastic or widening the slits to improve performance. Has anyone documented trying this?

That was what I thought, but the pumps (I'm not certain if all and all models) that slow down is due to slime on the propeller's magnet and the housing where it sits.

Don't have a WP-xx as yet, not a hater, and don't want to hijack this thread, but to rather to reinforce this post and offer a solution to low flow.

I find I take my Koralia's out every 3 weeks and scrub with hot water and toothbrush. I once had an issue with an impeller wear, and Tech Support at Koralia suggested NOT using vinegar due to corrosive nature. They sent me a bag with cleaner (along with replacement impellers), which worked, but I have not reordered.

So my 2 cents is, this happens to most if not all power heads, and just keep the units clean (as part of normal tank maintenance).

Sincerely,

David

Sure, vinegar is corrosive, but so is saltwater! :spin1:

Hows your club feel about 24 fish in a 90g....

Those all look like baby to juvi fish and with just 3 months, not everyone is settled in yet.

Once they start growing and start to feel comfortable enough to establish territories, it's going to go on a death spiral.

Fish will start harassing each other, stressed fish will start developing disease, diseased fish will release more pathogens into the water that will stress out the aggressor fish... etc.
