anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

Does anyone know how much voltaget the light sensor (photo-electric cell) should be putting out?

Mine worked for 5 min and then stopped.

My lighting was never on when I instelled the cell, so it didn't overheat like they warn about.

I would get the night indicator to come on if I placed my finger over the cell, now nothing.

Also, at one point I had to apply a little pressure to the cell to get the indicator to come on, and now no response.

If think it is the controller and not the cell that has the problem/
Fish-city will not warrant it in any way.

I want to prove that it is a faulty controller and not the $1 cell.

BTW. they gave me a $5 refund for the bad power cord that they supplied on mu unit.

I think you mean Fish Street not Fish City. And I have less issue with the store not dealing with the warranty issue than with the manufacturer. Try contacting Jebao directly:

And here is the problem with China that we all have to keep in mind. They are a long ways away for us to even talk to, let alone to ship defective product to. And in this case you have a Chinese store and a Chinese manufacturer.

Now in the area of led lighting, I've done a fair amount of work with EverGrow (also sold thru Reef Breeders as Photon lights). And EverGrow has bent over backwards to help out when customers have problems. They sent out complete new circuit boards at no charge and no shipping fee when some of the first buyers got IT series lights that had clocks that ran fast by 5min/hr!

I would have thought Fish Street would have a relationship with Jebao and could have helped here. Or at the VERY least, could have given you a contact at Jebao and they could could send you a new controller, or at least a new circuit board for inside. I would recommend you continue to trace down your problem and also try to find a customer service person at Jebao.
Try this site: http://www.jebao.com/en/introduce002.html
If they don't help out customers with problems, do they deserve our loyalty or complimentary words and praise as a company? And for the record, I've sent 2 emails to Jebao and they have failed to respond to either. :(

The WP40 seems to be working the majority of the time, maybe even the vast majority of the time. I think we all had concerns about the quality of these pumps and Jebao, the manufacturer, back when this thread started. And I was one of the first to give it a try and it's worked well for me so far... but that's only 6 weeks! The whole unit is kind of cheaply put together, but then so are a lot of expensive pumps and other aquarium hardware, so for now I'm reasonably happy with the pump. Besides, what do you expect from an $85 pump and controller that is the only low price competition for a $335 Tunze or $465 MP40? But a few bad pumps and poor customer service will have them in serious trouble in terms of customer feedback here on RC. If they don't follow thru and provide basic warranty help, they don't deserve our even buying the pumps in the first place.

Come on Jebao, step up to the plate and be a good member of the Chinese manufacturing community. Stand behind your warranty and do the right thing. Just look at the Chinese led thread and see the huge amount of praise EverGrow gets compared to Tao-Tronics, or SunSun or a handful of other CHEAP Chinese manufacturers. Or you can do nothing and risk going down in flames like so many other Chinese junk manufacturers. :headwally:

Just my personal opinion.

You are correct I did mean Fish-Street, it was early and I was tired when I wrote that.

BTW I totally agree with your soapbox statement. I'm going to try writing to Jebao directly now.

Thanks.

Good luck and please keep us informed about your situation. I'm hoping they treat you well... but even US companies can be idiots when it comes to customer service and warranties.

:uzi: Unfortunately some Chinese manufacturers seem to be even worse. :headwally:

No problem. I want to inform everyone that is purchasing this item what kind of support them are to expect.

Interesting thing is I went into the tank room this morning and shined and LED flashlight on the controller to see what something was labeled and when I did that it went into Night mode and stayed there (which is correct because the tank lights are not on yet).

I sent them a very nice e-mail so we'll see what they have to say.

So I got my pump yesterday. It was very unexpected since I never received an email saying it had shipped. It was a great surprise! So I got it installed and was expecting a tidal surge in my 90 gallon tank. It's defiantly moving some water I have about a half inch wave. But to be honest I was really expecting a lot more water movement. I actually had to keep one of my koralia 1400 in to help with some uncovered areas. I'm running the wp40 on 24volts. I ran through all the settings and and tested out the night mode. That was really my only major disappointment about this unit. In complete darkness the sensor doesn't come on and never goes into night mode. So I guess my next step is going to be to get this thing hooked up to my Apex and see what I can do with it.

wow, you can seriously hear that wp40 going... I'm fairly certain that would drive me nuts :(

It does to me and my family. It's out of the tank...probably got a bad sample?
I'll ask fish-street for a replacement impeller.

got mine yesterday and the thing came with the magnets together and they wont come apart. Also my pump sits all the way back into the craddle like the guy that posted a video a few pages back. very disappointed

the box was also smashed pretty good. not the shipping box but the box from Jebao on the inside

waiting on mine .. 1 was in san fran on the 28th n my other 2 showed up there yesterday afternoon .. maybe tomorrow i will have 1 to play with .. I HOPE ..

got this thing apart and set it up on W1 it is just way to powerful for my 75 i have it turned all the way to the left and the wave almost splashes out of the tank. W2 and W3 seemed like the same thing. I currently have it on ELSE turned all the way to the left. it does make noise but not as much as i was expecting after seeing that last video

Here is one WP40 being controlled by a reef angel. This is running the vortech mode "reef crest".

Completly silent!!!
