anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

Day 2 review. I went back from 2 units down to 1. Just was too much. Everything is loving this unit including me. I personally love the controller it comes with. To be honest though I don't understand why people would tie this into another controller unless you can control it via a computer.

I'm interested in connecting it to another controller so I can dial them back further than the factory settings allow. I also want to be able to control them via Android or my computer. It would also allow me to sync them, but I'm not sure I want to do that.

Ordered one last week, on Tuesday. While it was on pre order, didn't get the 10% discount and still hasn't shipped. Waiting for this pump is so frustrating! How long did it take for others that have pre ordered for theres to actually ship?

I ordered mine 3-4 days ago and it still hasn't shipped. They told me It was because "still on Easter holidays". Everyone seems to have gotten theirs pretty fast up until this point. I think we were unlucky enough to get in right at the beginning of a supply problem. No 10% discount for me either:uzi:

Mine was delivered today. I wasnt expecting it to be on my door mat when I got home from work. The usps tracking site said it was shipped from the san fran hub to baton rouge this morning whenever I checked. So I figured itd be after Easter holiday before i'd get to play with it. I'm super impressed so far. Very quite and moves some serious water in my 90. I could not believe the crap it kicked up out of my rockwork! I still have to fine tune its location. My Tanks overflow is on the left side. The wp40 is on the right wall 8" down now blowing behind the rock towards the overflow set on else mode.

Just a reminder and as I have seen mentioned. Linking to EBay or other selling sites is not allowed. Whether or not you are just "helping out" other reefers.

missing light sensor

missing light sensor

I bought 2 jebo wp40's a and neither came with light sensors .... can someone confirm that they are supposed to come with 2 light sensors each???
I have left them an email .. but haven't heard back yet ....

The factory controller varies the 5V analog signal it provides on the VA line to adjust the speed. The pump actually stops at 2V and is at max speed at 5V. So it has about 3V of useful adjustment.

Dennis

This probably can't work because it seems too easy, but I have to ask.

Could a pot be installed on the 5V line to control speed?

It does work. Its as simple as that mine worked with a 24v power suply and a 3v battery in the va line. It is in fact that simple.

Does anyone have thoughts on how this would function in a 150DD (basically 36" square)? Reading through this thread it seems most people are running them across at least a 48" side. I would love to replace some of the assortment of mix and match power heads with a single solution but I am guessing this would just be too forceful if it only has 36" it can flow.

You should have no problem. I'm running it on my 120 cube (30"x30"x31") on else mode with no mod and its not nearly too strong. I have never been able to get more than a small "wave" going in any of the modes, but it does provide good flow. I think the height of the tank makes a big difference. I have mine mounted about 24" deep.

Thanks nuno, has that already been mentioned and I missed it? Lucky guess on my part. Anyway, how would the size of the pot be determined? Does the controller send the 5V line through a resistor for low? If so, could the value of that resistor tell us what size pot to use?

I know very little about electronics, but I can solder. Adding a pot seems like the way to go. I can't imagine why the manufacturer didn't put in a pot for speed control.

Am I correct to assume there would be no worries adding a pot to the 5V line? It's been mentioned that some ways of speed control might heat things up and damage the pump.

Hi guys just seeing if anyone can help me here. Im building a new 4x2x2 foot tank and was going tovget two of these babies and connect them to my controller which is a profilux 3. Can anyone st me on the right path to connecting them to it. Ive seen a pwm on ebay I could use. Would I then connect this to one of the 0-10v ports on the back of the profilux?

So, I've had mine in my 125 for 4 days and I really like it. My only complaint is the night sensor. It worked fine for a few days but now does nothing regardless of if it is light or dark. Seems like that is the one thing some people are having issues with. Not the biggest deal, but it would be a nice feature if it worked better.

I agree. Jebao would have been smarter to add a speed control function and a better light sensor and charged $130 for it, heck, $165. I'd pay that difference in a heartbeat for a better product that I don't have to screw with. After all, your competition is asking what? $335 to $465? Just look at the start of this thread, everybody was asking is this just more CHEAP CHINESE JUNK? Looking at it from Jebao's point of view, the $85 price point was way too low. At $85 it's perceived as potential Chinese junk. At $165 it's seen as a low price version of the Tunze which would have been good for Jebao's brand reputation.

The answer is still out for me. I like the pump, it's quiet enough, it moves plenty of water and the pulse timing works OK. My variable output power supply controls the speed OK. But if they had added in speed control, a better light sensor and reef controller compatibility and it costs Jebao what, $25 a pump... maybe. And at $130 you have made a 50% profit margin on that $25 extra product manufacturing cost. These guys have a ways to go before they equal EverGrow as a quality Chinese led mfr.

Mine arrived today, installed it and took it out of the tank after a few hours. Way to much noice.
I checked the impeller and this part looks really cheap. It is obviously not equally sized on both sides...thats probably why it makes so much noice.

Post a video of the noise. I had the same issue when my WP40 was pointing straight ahead. Then I pointed it in another direction (off to the side), then the noise disappeared.

Yes it is supposed to come with the light sensor.
I got one with my unit.
It is very small and tucked in with the controller.
I almost threw it out because I didn't see it there.

My question is how do you install the light sensor?
Does it just get plugged into the 2 holes on the controller?
I thought I read in an earlier post by someone that you had to open the controller or something to install it.

Here is a link to a video of it running in my 55.

I have tried many different positions and angels. In the corners the pump makes the most sound, but in no position it was silent enough. Compared to my tunzes a big difference !

Tommorow I will try again and shoot some video's

Mine is totally silent. If I press my ear to the magnet I can hear it ramping up and down and so forth. It's more of a vibration hum... sounds like it's playing a song!! I'm really satisfied with this pump. I'll prolly be ordering another soon. If I were to get another one and place both of them on the hydor smartwave I bought a couple months ago would that be ok? Im thinking having one on each side of the tank running by itself for awhile then having it switch to the other would help create some more randomness.

The light sensors are inside the plastic bag that the controller came in. They are not installed, you need to install them yourself. Hope you didn't toss those baggies...
