anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

So... for a 4x2 120g.... would one of these be good, or 2? From what I heard earlier, 2 would be brutal. If I pick these up, I want to buy one, or two, and that fulfill ALL my powerhead needs. I want as little as possible inside my tank equip wise.

Just one of these creates a big wave at full power in my 6ft 125. I can't see more than 1 being used in a 48" tank without cutting the power with a universal voltage power supply.

I'm hoping by the time I finish cycling, the WP25 will be out. So I can compare the 2. I wont really need a powerhead for another month or so. Just about to order my dry rock and sand next week.

What if you don't use the wave mode? As I said earlier, I have an MP40 on my 75gal and it's not enough by itself. The WP40 seems to be about equivalent right?

I wish I knew earlier. This thing is as strong as the Tunze higher models for 1/3rd of the price, and absolutely stronger than a single MP-40 without question. I almost don't want to hook it up to the Apex for fear of possibly losing the wave modes. Good thing I have an extra one to play with.

I set my power supply down to 12v, and one pump is perfect for night mode on a 6ft 125 gallon tank. I didn't even hook up the resistor to automatically do it. No need, plus the controller is going inside my stand anyway.

If I get it working with my Apex tomorrow, I will post a tutorial. You'll need a spare CAT5e ethernet cable, a 0-10v converter, and beginner soldering skills.

+1
I'm putting together a 120g as well and just hoping 1 WP40 wont be too much for the tank.

From what I've seen on here, people are comparing two MP40's to the equivalent of ONE WP40 and the WP40 making even better waves than 2 MP40's.

I've been looking for some inexpensive dc powerheads to replace my koralias...hopefully they will introduce 2nd generation modifications (namely adjustable flow rates and wide flow pattern) into the wp 25. I may be overly optimistic about these changes happening, but this option would make my wife a lot happier than me buying a pair of tunze 6095s.

If i get enough time to do so, ill take a vid of 1 of my MP40s on NTM or short pulse mode at 100%, and one of the WP-40. The wp-40 is stronger by far, and much quieter.

I like that I'm getting back into the hobby NOW. 5 years ago when I was building a 90 you didn't have the chance to get cheap LED systems or powerheads like these.

Maybe a few years down the road this hobby will start to be manageable to newcomers who want more than a nano.

How would one of these do in a 75g sps dominated mixed reef? Would it be too large/unsightly? Looking to replace all my Evos with one power head.

I have a 120 gallon currently with 1 korlia 3200gph (overkill). In the past i have purchased properller pumps i thought would be sufficient 800gph, 1500gph, 2000gph so did not want to make a stupid mistake again by ordering a under performing pump. Anyhow i completely re-did my aquascape with overhangs for acros and monti's and need to get my flow random but not to brutal. I was shopping around for a tunze wavebox because they seemed fair priced (its an illusion). After coming across these WP-40 I am blown away - I would glady pay $200 for 2 and have them work together like 2 vortech pumps. They are controllable so can't I bring the flow down like they state? Flow is good but trust me TOO much linear flow will kill and stress corals out. So I advice anyone to never just have 1 strong overkill pump. Based on Customer reviews there flow rating are under rated. What's a good estimate on the lowest possible flow i can get with these pump in my tank? i would love to see a 120 with 2 wp-40 with different levels of speed. I mean will 1 WP-40 really be ideal for acros and montis? People where waiting for MP60s from ecotech now people are waiting on a lower version for Jebo. The chinese took Tunze and Vortechs ideas and created a monster at an affordable price. I personally rather buy pumps for $100 and re-place or upgrade them every 2-3 years.

Just the VA cable to the Stevesled 0-10v converter doesn't work while the 0-10v inputs are connected.

It looks like I have to get the Stevesled a 5V and GND somehow too. The Jebao + and - wires are labeled 24+ and 24-. Any ideas?

Duh, looks like I need a 5V AC-DC adapter to power steves controller.

Do you have a scope you can put on it? That way we can find out exactly what it is sending as the control.

Dennis

Nope. What would i need?

So far, it doesn't seem like a 5v PWM output. Next test is the 24v pwm module like Floyd has connected to the apex 0-10v instead of a pot.

So after failing to get the apex working with the Stevesled converter, i hooked it back up to normal. 2 of these in a 125 on full blast or W1 is just way too much power. I blew an sps frag and an alevpora right off the rocks when i turned the second one on. Lol.

On W1 wave mode, you really only need 1 to get a nice wave going with full coverage. The adjustable adapter mod is an easy way to adjust speed.

I cant seem to find the night mode resistors though. Where was it in the package?

So does that mean it is a no go with the apex? Or is more experimenting needed?
