anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

Serpent you're on ARC right?

I think some people use the vortech powerheads as a symbol of status. Its really funny. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they are nice pumps but upwards of $500. Give me a break, never would I spend that kind of cash on a powerhead. Maybe Im just a cheapskate :) Just about everyone that I know thats owns a vortech has either had to replace parts regularly or complains about their noise.

Yep, same serpent. :D

I have to agree. These are the same people that only buy LE corals for the name, not how they look. I would rather have a beautifully colored coral than something with a fancy name.

I have a MP10wES and will never own another Vortech again. These things are loud. I can hear mine 2 rooms away. I was looking at getting Tunze pumps when I ran across this thread, and OH BOY was I ecstatic. The same type of pump a fraction of the cost. Even if these pumps only last a year, I will still be way ahead if I have to buy 2 more.

I might eventually go to Tunze, but the coral funds will have to fund that venture. :D

I also contacted Jebao to see if they would do a group buy. I'm not advocating putting one together, just seeing if they would do them.

So I've been following this thread since day 1! Really excited about this pump but still a little hesitant to order one. I read earlier in the tread that some one had got this to work with an Apex. But then it seemed like others tried but couldn't. So that's why I haven't ordered one yet. I realize you can but a power supply and just drop the voltage. So for those that have gotten this pump to work with there Apex can you tell me what parts I'd need.. A 5 or 24 volt PWM converter? And maybe a tutorial on how you hooked it up? Thanks

Once my 24v PWM module arrives, I'll make a tutorial (if it works)

I have posted this in my local club forums and am getting a lot of questions about how can this compare to the vortech. Most guys with a vortech say there is no comparison between the wp40 and the mp40. Is that a fair comment? How would you compare the 2, if at all? Would you guys that have both say its more comparable to a koralia or a Tunze?

Sorry, but I have had and RETURNED my Vortec MP40 and my Tunze Wave Box.

I'm sure the people who have both will agree. Right away, when I pulled it out of the box I was convinced this was a better pump. it feels ROCK SOLID. China or no, it feels like a quality pump. I've never owned an actual Tunze outside of the Wave Box, so I don't want to comment on something I don't know about. The only question it still has to answer is will it still be working in 2 years.

These are nice pumps. The controller is a little too simple, but other than that, these are awesome! Anyone knocking them has either never had them, or is just ****ed off that they spent so much on their pumps and now these are here.

I am running a 240g tank. If you are looking for a wave maker, 1 pump will do the job. I had it rocking a 4" wave across my 64" tank. I have a few corals that don't like being rocked that hard plus 2 ritteri that actually want to be rocked a little harder. I have settled on using 2 pumps. 1 at each end set at the lower setting, running full time. I have a pretty awesome current with no dead spots. The turbulence in the middle of the tank causes a nice tumble effect for my ritteris. Everything looks very happy in there today. I love it!

I've just ordered 2 more for my downstairs tank. :)

This thread is going up to 26 pages long and I think by now we can say the Jebo WP40 pump is a game changing product in wave making and water flow category. Initial reviews from all current users show the pump to be better than expectation in performance, quality, low cost and ease of use.

We have explored and confirmed the pump can run in variable power supply in lower voltages than the 24V factory power supply allowing the pump to run slower and gentler.

We also confirmed the pump can be used with a timer. There is also no reason not to believe that this pump can run on battery backup using a similar set up with a Tunze Safety Connector to a 12V battery. One thing we need to explore and confirm is whether the pump can be controlled by an external controller like APEX, ReefAngel, or other PWM or 0-10v controller.

The only remaining question is the reliability of this pump which only time will tell. Initial reports from all users show the pumps run reliably since they have been installed without any major or minor problems reported in terms of defects or malfunctionings.

So allow me to say the Jebo WP40 pump passes the intital reviews with flying color! Will you agree?
