anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

Just curious what do you base this on?

Lol... not having a motor in the tank... though I suppose thats was redundant to your statement in the first place.

Well I have read all posts and I am going to give it a shot just a quick question I have a 90 gallon mixed reef how many pumps would I need and which ones I am getting more and more into sps thanks

I would wait a bit and see what happens to the wp-25 production. I think 2 of those would be much better suited to an SPS tank. As your colonies grow in I think you would find that one sourced flow is lacking.

Read up on the WP-25 thread. Looks as if they may have intigrated power on the controler soon.

Absolutely not baseless. Every pump out there has the risk fail at some point leaking either the oil that lubricates it or stray voltage. I won't respond to any more posts about this but quit being a fanboy lol.

I'd say just one.

In regards to the WP40, I've had one for about two weeks now. It's still taking some getting used to. The light sensor i snot really working in my favor, as even when the lights are at peak (50%) - it still won't turn on, so I had to ditch the light sensor for now.

Wider flow (100% true), more under tow (totally unproven, mine has great undertow), less risk of critical failure releasing undesirables (possible but I don't think most pumps even use oils or lubricants anymore), warranty (very, very likely), customer support (also very likely)......

I agree though, this thread shouldn't be about comparisons. I am probably getting a couple to use with my reef angel in the next couple months, just want to see a longer beta test.

what is the difference between the W2 and W3 mode ? i am having issue in creating the random flow in my tank 4x2x2ft with 2 xWP40 running 50% strength on w2 mode

can some one help ?

the diffrence between w2 and w3 isn't very much, w2 ramps the pump up and down in 6 steps where as w3 does it in 8 steps.

I do agree that if you want random flow you should use else mode.

Here are a list of the different modes off.
I think I got them off Fish-Streets web site or through communcation with Jebao.

These are the modes of the WP40. you would think that the WP25 would be the same.
H: High, constant, non-variable flow (13,000 LPH)

L: Low, constant, non-variable flow at a third of the speed (4,300 LPH)

W1: Short pulses which, when timed correctly will create a back and forth motion and form a gentle standing wave in your tank. Adjust the controller to change the speed of the pulses and vary the size of the wave according to your tank.

W2 & W3: Pump gradually speeds up and slows down incrementally to create a varied flow pattern. Adjustable to form the wave best suited to your tank.

Else: Reef Stream Mode, a mixed, changing pattern that creates a random flow cycle similar to what you would find in a natural reef.

Feed: Press the 'FEED' button once, the blue '10min' light will illuminate indicating that the pump has been stopped for 10 minutes. When the time has elapsed, the light will go off and the pump will be turned back on. Alternatively, press the 'FEED' button again to start the pump.

Lock: To prevent changes from inadvertently occurring by accidentally knocking the adjustable control knob, press and hold the 'FEED' button for 5 seconds. The red 'LOCK' light will illuminate and the control knob will no longer function. Press and hold the 'LOCK' light for a further 5 seconds to disable this feature.

*Night: When the two-pinned sensor is inserted into the two small plugs on the left-hand side of the control box, Night mode will function automatically. The sensor detects when the tank lights go out and slows the pump to half speed. The 'Sensor' light will illuminate when Night mode is in operation. To disable the Night mode function, remove the sensor from the control box.

Does anybody know what the GPH on the WP40 is running in "else" mode?

Also, how many do you think I'd need for a 450 gallon (120x28.5x30.5") tank with another 170 gallon of system volume in the sump to get good turnover?

Any word on the WP60/80?

the else mode is just a random set of GPH, ramps up and down, pulses, stays on high and then on low ect.

I would make a guess of 2 wp40's one on each end and a couple wp25's on the back pointed forward. but that is just a guess on my part.

Thanks, is there an average of what else mode would work out to? Even a high and low range?

I was thinking of starting out with 2 on each end... but might need something smaller for dead spots.

to be honest I couldn't say what the average would be unless I knew the code they used. but a guess would be about 7000lph.

2 wp40's on each end should work also, I just went with the 25's on the back to help with the random movements all through out the tank. like I said I am just guessing lol.

I am sure someone with a bigger tank that has used these will chime in with their thoughts.
