Thanks. This is an upgrade from my 90 and I went from a rock wall to a muc more open aquascape. I like much much better. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Amazing, do you have pics of the rock structure build process?

My entry: 90g

The tank is newly set up and will be an SPS dominated tank. I got the rock from several sources. The construction was done with drilled rock, fiberglass rods, and 2 part epoxy. Let me know what you think.

Unfortunatly, no pics. I was so busy trying to build the scape and not keep the rock out of the water too long I neglected to snap any pics.

I used cement block caps as a base for the structure to give stability, adding a heavy flat "foot" to build the structures off of. I placed a sheet of plywood the same footprint of the tank on a work table as an analog to keep the structures small enough to fit in the tank and give size perspective. Then chose several pieces of rock as the starting point. I used a 13" long carbide masonry drill bit to drill the first rocks all the way through to the bottom of the cement caps and used the fiberglass reflector rods (cut to size) to pin each rock down. I then used the squish together 2 part construction epoxy to fill the holes around the rods to make them permanent.

Next I would take rock out of my holding tub and set it on top several different ways to find what I deemed to fit/ look best and pin/ epoxy each one. Once the main structures were done they were placed in the main tank and the connecting pieces were fitted between the structures and their adjoining edges were capped in epoxy. There are a few rocks on top that are not secured, but they fit together nicely and are very stable. the 3"-4" sand bed hides the base cement caps and prevents critters from digging underneath the structures and causing a collapse.
