Does the ASM Mini G skim as good as the other ASM's? I've noticed that its the only one in the ASM line up that uses a different pump. Thinking about getting one for my Nano tank.
Any thoughts on the Mini G?
Thanks.....

Seems a question about the Mini-G is asked every few pages or so, & is never really responded to.

Here's a positive semi-review. ;)

Mine will be running within 2 weeks, I'll post my experiences.

Hi
Anyone know where I can get the reducer for the pump into the skimmer tube? I have a G4x.
Thanks

Thats just a 1" 90 degree sweep. Not sure who sells them, but you may give custom aquatic,or premium aquatics a try.Have you tried just useing a regular 90 degree elbow with a piece of 1" pipe?

What size of sedra are you trying to put that on? I have a sedra 9000 and it has a 1" slip output.

The reducer is a piece of round rubber that the L tube from the Sedra 9000 fits into the skimmer. Can't locate it anywhere. I will try custom and premium. Thanks

Oh ok your talking about the uniseal on the body.Wish you would of stated that at first there is a lot of places that you can get one online.

The one asm uses for there skimmers is kind of cheapy imo,an actual uniseal would of been better to use.Anyway you got it and thats what counts.

Glad I could help.

Trojan, Here is the top hole for the recirc mod:

I also put my ruler in the picture for those who want the dimensions from skimmer tube to pump after the mod.

Hey Guys....
Maybe I missed it reading the 7 pages here. (If I did...sorry.) I did see where one of you listed problems that the Sedra pumps have. After 3 years of use, my Sedra is now having start-up issues. If power goes out or If I unplug the skimmer I have a hard time getting it started again. I now have to block the water intake of the pump and it will start up. Is there a fix for this? If not, can somebody recommend a reasonable priced replacement pump I can get for my ASM-G3 skimmer? (Model number would be great. ;) )
Thanks....

Does anyone know where I can get the little rubber tip on the impellar for a mini-G or have ASM's support contact info/website?

Thanks.

custom aquatic & premium aquatics sell replacement parts for the asm skimmers, which I believe I posted on the last page :) .

Have you checked to see if the ceramic shaft is broken?Maybe give it a good clean in hot water & vinegar. Also check to see if the magnet has a nipple.Sometimes they go out of round.

I ordered a ASM G-3 on ebay from AZ Seabottom (Paul Aljets) it arrived without the gasket that fits into the body of the skimmer.

Long story short, the skimmer has not been replaced as promised and no part shipped to me.

I saw on the Bluewater corals site they offer a bulkhead is that the same as the skimmer body??

Thanks, Debbie

Yes, I checked already and they don't just sell that black nipple, you have to buy the entire impellar which is alot more.

Does anybody have a web site or phone/email for ASM? asmskimmer.com isn't it :)

You might make the part you need out of some black rubber or vyton vacuum hose from an auto supply. The black rubber nipple you are referring to simply keeps the ceramic shaft centered in the pump body and volute. It's worth a try.
